The 18 million he wasted on Santa Cruz, the 25 million he was on Adebayor and letting Sturridge go make him clueless. I hate Hughes with a passion, not because he was a rag but because we went backwards after spending over
100 million thanks to him.

Is the correct answer. Some managers just shouldn't be trusted with a budget and he heads up the list. To think what could have been had we installed proper football people back then makes me wince.

I don't remeber Kompany playing that much under Hughes. He treated Robinho shockingly, the team should have been biilt round him not expect him to play as a wing back.

To be honest, I wouldn't be remotely surprised if Hughes had nothing to do with those two signings, as they aren't remotely like his sort of players and he didn't seem to know what to do with them when he had them. And by what I mean by not his sort of signings, I mean they were both cheap, hadn't "proven" themselves in the PL and weren't shit
