so if Kompany had been talked about why did he join us and not Real, Barca or another?

Because robbo my old china he had a suspect injury record, what we paid was seen as a gamble.......

Zin..I do love you :)

(: - we can agree that the sun shines on a dogs arse some days and Shirley got extremely lucky, I still can't get over Santa Cruz, adebeyor, kolo, lescott, de Jong for a combined 100m plus, not when you get yaya, silva, kun and nasty for less.... Criminal really!!!

Re: Mark Hughes forever remembered

Was thinking about him and that whole period this week especially with what is happening at Villa. At the time Villa were the club we were being told who were spending their money in the right way and progressing at a sensible pace. I'm glad we accelerated after sacking him otherwise we'd be trying to offload Kenwynne Jones and Joe Cole to raise the ffp finance to sign Ashley Cole on a free and Rickie Lambert. Still Europa league qualification is pretty exciting

Don't forget making Wayne Bridge the highest paid fullback in the history of football...

To be honest, I wouldn't be remotely surprised if Hughes had nothing to do with those two signings, as they aren't remotely like his sort of players and he didn't seem to know what to do with them when he had them. And by what I mean by not his sort of signings, I mean they were both cheap, hadn't "proven" themselves in the PL and weren't shit

These were his signings, the big superstars were not.

If all the signings were down to Hughes there may not have been FFP so soon.

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day.

Is the correct answer.
It was Mancini who decided to play Kompany at centre half anyway.

I think the over exuberance of one Sulaiman Al-Fahim may have had a hand in that. It's been mentioned before on here, but I think his comments just after the takeover made not so much a wave but a tsunami. Our image took a battering it has never fully recovered from. It's no wonder he was swiftly dropped as Mansours spokesman.
