I think they're overrated as always and people are just whacking off over them because they've had a good start and the press seem to love appy arry
Gomes is one of the worst keepers in the league. Cudicini ain't what he used to be and the fact gomes is in front of him says it all
Charlie is far too slow for the prem and a complete liability at right back. He's been found out on numerous occaisons and will continue to do so.
Woodgate and Dawson? Meh. Average
Ledley King is quality and they seem to be a different team with him in, but he'll only play a limited amount of games with him in the team
Assou-ekotto is shit I don't care how good a strike the goal against Liverpool was.
Lennon is a primitive player, a poor mans sweep. His form will fade
Palacios isn't bad, but isn't that good either. People are blowing smoke out of his arse but he isn't that great at all.
Modric is a quality footballer, but a bit lightweight and you can get at him. Keane hasn't been able to hit a cows arse with a banjo for a while. Defoe is a good player. Crouch and Pavlychenko are at the same level as a number of strikers in the prem (Bent, Yakubu, Saha, Johnson, Davies etc)
Spurs haven't got any top top talents in the same league as Robbie, Tevez, Ade, Gerrard, Fabregas, Drogba etc, they've just got a squad full of decent ish players IMO
Yiddo here.
Seriously? I assume you didn't see Gomes after Xmas or Assou Ekotto at all last season, and if you think Woodgate is an average player, then i can't really take the rest of your post seriously. Which is just as well, as you've rated Palacios as 'not that good'. I could carry on about your assessments of Lennon's form fading (cheers, Mystic Meg), or Modric being a lightweight, but i'll refrain....
With regards to the thread, on paper i believe we have a better squad that Liverpool but on the field it's a different story, and that's where it matters. I think we've had a better squad on paper than Liverpool for a few years, but they're still ten times the team we are. Without Gerrard and Torres, they'd struggle to get into the top 4, whereas the other 3 can afford to lose a couple of their star players, even Arsenal losing Fabregas & RVP for months last season didn't stop them.
I think we'll lose our next 2 games at home to Utd and away to Chelsea and it's how we bounce back from those 2 that will define our season.
