The Spurs Squad

Its not just the start of this season, Spurs have been strong since Arry took over especially thier home form.

I think they can be up there this year, with us hopefully also. Although i dont like Spurs, it would be great for the premier league if we both got into the top 4, kicking 2 of the so called big boys out. Mind you i wouldnt put it past UEFA or the FA to somehow allow the other 2 to take part somehow as they cant have little old Utd not in the CL can they.

I think Spurs and Man City will definitely kick Villa and Everton out of the top 6.

Spurs wont have a problem if they can get a good run without a huge injury-list, it just never seems to happen for them.

Attacking-wise they are very strong and have nice options. Swapping Bent for Crouch was a good move.

(Hutton) (Dawson) (Bassong) (Bale)

Lennon Palacios Jenas Modric
(Bentley) (Hudd) (Kranjcar) (O'Hara)

As a squad I think it is stronger than The Rags, and Liverpools.

I think they're overrated as always and people are just whacking off over them because they've had a good start and the press seem to love appy arry

Gomes is one of the worst keepers in the league. Cudicini ain't what he used to be and the fact gomes is in front of him says it all

Charlie is far too slow for the prem and a complete liability at right back. He's been found out on numerous occaisons and will continue to do so.

Woodgate and Dawson? Meh. Average

Ledley King is quality and they seem to be a different team with him in, but he'll only play a limited amount of games with him in the team

Assou-ekotto is shit I don't care how good a strike the goal against Liverpool was.

Lennon is a primitive player, a poor mans sweep. His form will fade

Palacios isn't bad, but isn't that good either. People are blowing smoke out of his arse but he isn't that great at all.

Modric is a quality footballer, but a bit lightweight and you can get at him. Keane hasn't been able to hit a cows arse with a banjo for a while. Defoe is a good player. Crouch and Pavlychenko are at the same level as a number of strikers in the prem (Bent, Yakubu, Saha, Johnson, Davies etc)

Spurs haven't got any top top talents in the same league as Robbie, Tevez, Ade, Gerrard, Fabregas, Drogba etc, they've just got a squad full of decent ish players IMO

Yiddo here.

Seriously? I assume you didn't see Gomes after Xmas or Assou Ekotto at all last season, and if you think Woodgate is an average player, then i can't really take the rest of your post seriously. Which is just as well, as you've rated Palacios as 'not that good'. I could carry on about your assessments of Lennon's form fading (cheers, Mystic Meg), or Modric being a lightweight, but i'll refrain....

With regards to the thread, on paper i believe we have a better squad that Liverpool but on the field it's a different story, and that's where it matters. I think we've had a better squad on paper than Liverpool for a few years, but they're still ten times the team we are. Without Gerrard and Torres, they'd struggle to get into the top 4, whereas the other 3 can afford to lose a couple of their star players, even Arsenal losing Fabregas & RVP for months last season didn't stop them.

I think we'll lose our next 2 games at home to Utd and away to Chelsea and it's how we bounce back from those 2 that will define our season.

Yes I saw plenty of assou ekotto last season and he was shit. Gomes is also shit. Woodgate is an average prem defender, there's probably 10 better centre halves in this league than him. Lennon's form will fade cos he isn't very good

That said, I expect you to finish top 6 no probs, there's a good chance you'll probably finish above us. Just don't think you're what evryone's building you up to be at the mo

Jenas isn't up to much, flatters to deceive. Let's not forget that O'Hara has gone on a season-long loan to Pompey also.

Spurs like most teams are strong if at full strengh. The key throughout the season will be injuries. I believe City's season will depend on Ireland and Barry's fitness. Also Toure and ade missing in Jan / feb could be a crucial period.

Spurs - probably Woodgate and Palacious.

I have friends who watch Liverpool and they are already stating how Carra is a lot slower and they miss alonso - he was the player who made things tick although not always noticed. believe as the season goes on and Gerard / Torres get tired / injured these will be the team to drop off. They have no real backup for Torres or Gerard.

Arsenal are the inigma - they have great players but a lot of youngsters, defense may be their undoing.

Rags - The one thing they have is the belief they are the best but if they lose a few games then this may waver - their midfield is getting weaker but they know how to hold the ball and teams still fear them.

Chelsea - look strong all over and have plenty of cover - i believe they will win the league - but the African nations may be their undoing.

Well i definitely agree that our start has given us unrealistic expectations for the rest of the season now, and no doubt we'll flatter to deceive. I'm still quite amazed at your perceptions of the players you mentioned, but everyone's got an opinion i suppose.

What i don't understand about your posts is that you've basically slated everyone in our team then said there's a good chance we'll finish above you. I'd hate to see what you think of your own players....

I think the spine of King (fitness permitting), Palacios, Modric, Defoe is a strong one but it's too early to judge them as a whole yet - 3 of the 4 matches they've won this season they also won the equivalent fixture last season, with Birmingham obviously not being around 12 months ago. Whereas with City we've already taken maximum points at grounds we didn't win at last year and equaled our away wins tally already - a sign of definite progress

As much as I can't stand Redknapp and Spurs fans in general (im a Manc exiled in London so know them well), it would be good to have them join us as genuine top 4 contenders. 6 teams fighting it out for 4 spots would do the Premier League a world of good. It's why La Liga has been more enjoyable than the Premier League for the last 5 years - they too have 6/7 teams capable of getting a Champions League spot.
