If it's right we were and still are looking at Cambiaso seems more likely we want at least one full back to be more inverted than wide attacking.Plus when Walker and Mendy played together Walker was also more inverted.
 
My ideal squad next season

............ New GK/Ortega
Cambiaso/Lewis... kusanov/Huijsen or Braithwaite.... Dias/Akanji........Givadiol/Nico o railey/Ake
...................Rodri/Gonjalez/Camavinga
Savinho/BOBB..... Bernardo/Wirtz....Nunes/Foden/Doku

Loan Bah and Reis.
For this squad we have to offload Debruyne, Grealish, Gundogen, Kovacic, Macatee, Stones, Ederson.
Debruyne has been rumored to be keen on staying at city. Stones still has one more year at his contract, Gundo contract has been automatically extended for next year. Big question who will take Grealish. Ederson also same as saudis has cooled interest in him.
Mc atee... Why will he stay at city ? He hasn't got the minutes he deserved. Not sure next season he will get either.

Usually - think Pep often wanted both fullbacks to sit aside the holding midfielder before creatjng overlaps. In that Liverpool game though, they both kept width

I've been waffling about wanting wingbacks this season as I think it'd help our frailties. Plus Nunes & O'Reilly offer a great threat going forwards. Cambiaso seemingly has the same defensive weaknesses as Nunes, so it might suit him more as a WB.
 
INs:

GK 1) World-class replacement for Ederson (Costa, Chevalier, Lammens, Maignan etc)
GK 2) New back-up keeper
GK 3) Already bought Ben Vickery (youngster, 3rd choice keeper)

RB — Someone like Frimpong or Cambiaso

CAM — Assuming KDB and Bernardo both leave, Wirtz would make a lot of sense. But we've got depth here (Foden, Marmoush etc) so not a must-sign unless they're world-class

OUTs:

All three keepers
Walker on a permanent deal
I don't want any of KDB, Bernardo or Grealish to go, but I don't see them staying
Maybe Gundogan?


This would leave us with something like

GK: 2 new keepers + Vickery

RB: Frimpong, Lewis
CB: Dias, Akanji, Stones, Ake, Khusanov, Reis
LB: Guardiol, O'Reilly

CM: Rodri, Nico, Kovacic, Gundogan

I'd be a bit more savage with sales, something like:

GK: two new keepers
RB: NEW SIGNING (STARTER), lewis, akanji, Khusanov as cover
CB: Dias, Akanji, Khusanov, Ake, Gvardiol, Reis, NEW SIGNING (Left footed CB)
LB: Gvardiol, Ake, Lewis, O Reilly
CM: Gundogan, Rodri, Nico, Foden, O Reilly, NEW SIGNING (CAM, De Bruyne replacement) NEW SIGNING (Versatile 8, bernardo replacement)
WINGS: Doku, Savinho, Bobb, Marmoush, Foden,
ST: Haaland, Marmoush.

DEPARTURES: Stones, both keepers, Nunes, Walker, Bernardo, McAtee, De Bruyne, Kovacic, Grealish. (I could see a couple of these staying just because of the sheer amount of business needed, so for example Kovacic or Nunes could easily survive another year, but we should try and move them all on.)

Signings: 2 GKs, RB, CB, Versatile 8, CAM. ( So it's 10 out and 6 in, and if the 4 january signings are included in that, its 10 out, 10 in)

Academy players that may feature next season to add numbers: Doyle, Echeverri, Mukasa, Mubama.

I think Doku looks very handy when he tucks in a bit tbf, impossible to get the ball off him, not sure about Savinho though, he’s an out and out wide player, doesn’t have the composure to play more centrally.

I do think he could do a job as the right sided wide player in a 352, showed that kind of against Madrid.
 
I’m not sure it’s going to be as dramatic a rebuild as some may think. Obviously going to be significant but I think it will be done over two summers.

In terms of this summer - I think Nunes, Kovacic, Ederson, Walker, KDB will go and potentially one of (Akanji/Ake/Stones).

I think the following summer - the futures of: Ake, Akanji, Stones, Bernardo, Gundogan, Grealish (maybe McAtee) all come under scrutiny.

I reckon Bernardo definitely stays another year and will improve. Gundogan I reckon will stay and play far less games.

In terms of incomings: Full-backs, a new goalkeeper, another #6 and a number #8/10. Bobb and Rodri will the other holes.

Tixi wouldn't be staying on if it wasn't going to be dramatic .Maybe he will deal with the outgoings.

2 goalkeepers, full back, CB, CM, AMF , Winger and a CF, that's 8 players, that's a huge change in a squad.

Outside of Wirtz, i cant say i love any of your additions


Im not sure Mctee has what it takes to play Left back. We really need a top class RB. Ola Aina is a good utility player but id hope for someone more explosive.

Also don't like Kudus as the CM replacement for Gundo/Kova. Great energy and drive though
 
can’t help KDB going is to open his wages up for Wirtz and the club are going to do whatever it takes to get him.
