He looked nice getting ged by Cherki :)
How many CB do we need?If we get rid of Stones & made a major play for Marc Guéhi who's in the final 12 months of his Palace contract, we'll get a physical upgrade with cheaper wages & replace HG for HG.
No it won’t.Getting players out will be the real task
March Guéhi would be contingent on dispensing with Stones & possibly Aké.How many CB do we need?
We don’t need more but Stones and Ake are probably potentially likely to leave soon. He has 12 month on his contract. We need home grown. How many CB do we need?
There are also options out there like Wharton. I don’t think the club will go for guehi. Not good enough on the ball and will cost 70M because that’s what Liverpool is going to invest into him apparently - so there is no difference to MGW/Eze or Wharton. We don’t need more but Stones and Ake are probably potentially likely to leave soon. Home grown forward players are expensive and at rivals. That really leaves us having to look at second and third choice goalies and CB. The home grown goalies carnt play the ball out. He is probably the only logical player about other than possibly Branthwaite and MGW if they where are reasonable prices
Would be perfect for next year
I think we could get rid of 2 centre halves and still have too many, especially with Bah coming in next season. If we get rid of Stones & made a major play for Marc Guéhi who's in the final 12 months of his Palace contract, we'll get a physical upgrade with cheaper wages & replace HG for HG.
I know what you mean but that’s a bit sweeping, no pun intended. One of the best keeping displays at the Etihad last season was from Ramsdale for Southampton. They played through us rather nicely, and Harwood-Bellis had a good game, too.We don’t need more but Stones and Ake are probably potentially likely to leave soon. He has 12 month on his contract. I can see those three leaving over the next two seasons. Guéhi becomes a free agent next summer.I think we could get rid of 2 centre halves and still have too many, especially with Bah coming in next season.
Do like Guehi though, two footed, plays LCB.
Can’t see us signing another centre half unless we get rid of Akanji, Stones and Ake, which won’t happen.
I assume that's why we signed Khusonov, Reis, Bah.I can see those three leaving over the next two seasons. Guéhi becomes a free agent next summer.
What City need to do is start the succession planning for our players as they start to age, decline & pick up injuries.
We can't wait for them to collapse, & then start looking for replacements. This was the issue we faced last season. Hopefully it was a painful lesson learned.
I think Ale has value ss homegrown and back up LCB. Stones and Gundo play in highly stacked positions. RCB and CM. Since van see both being on the list.Looking at last night's squad we have far too many players. We need a serious clear out. Ake Stones Gundo should be certs to leave
I'd keep Ake over Akanji personally. But your analysis is kinda where I've been for a whileThink our squad should look something like this. Providing we dont sign a RB
Eddie
Nunes
Dias
Gvardiol
Nouri
Rodri
Bernardo
Reijnders
Cherki
Marmoush
Haaland
We then have.
Attackers
Foden Doku Savinho Bobb Eche (2 of these will need to be loaned)
Midfield
Gundo
Kovacic
Nico
(One of these have to go)
Defenders
Stones
Ake
Akanji
Khus
Reis
Lewis
(3 of these have to go)
So out of that id have
Gundo
Ake
Stones
Lewis (we would get decent money)
Bobb loan
Eche loan
Reis loan
Leaving us with the above starting line up and rest of squad Foden Savinho Doku Nico Kovacic Akanji Khus Ortega
First off you completely ignored my point I am more thinking next year. When Guéhi becomes a free. Not that I see him costing that much give his contract and seeming determination to leave on a free and how much liverpool have spent should they be the ones in for him. if was to go for him this year not that we will. There are also options out there like Wharton. I don’t think the club will go for guehi. Not good enough on the ball and will cost 70M because that’s what Liverpool is going to invest into him apparently - so there is no difference to MGW/Eze or Wharton.
The club has too many at the club already. Can’t see a CB joining in the next 2 years.
Getting Livramento and possibly one of not 2 out of MGW/ Wharton would already be enough. Guehi seems Liverpool bound with Konate leaving next year at the latest
Agree outside of Kovacic. The best thing by all respect for these club is if Viana somehow gets „ rid“ of Stones, Akanji, Gundogan and Kovacic. That opens up space in both positions where we are absolutely stacked. Doubt Viana wants to be seen as someone who bought 2 talents for 70M to loan them out half a year later. Same with Nico Gonzalez. Don’t see him getting sold or loaned out.
If the club look a PSG that’s the best way to compete. The club has nothing to lose next season and someone like Akanji is not going to change our outcome. Let alone an injured Stones that barely plays anyways.
Probably right I did wonder if he was an option. Don’t watch enough of none city players to comment. No one suggested him when I did on here. Also didn’t he fail at Arsenal due to his ability with his feet ?I know what you mean but that’s a bit sweeping, no pun intended. One of the best keeping displays at the Etihad last season was from Ramsdale for Southampton. They played through us rather nicely, and Harwood-Bellis had a good game, too.
It might be that until we have the academy producing a couple more, we need to find such players, not necessarily those, who are willing to play second fiddle.
I don’t wanna lose Kovacic either but I think that’s there‘s a chance since Bernardo has been named captain now.Agree outside of Kovacic.
True. I guess Bernardo is the final Unc :)I don’t wanna lose Kovacic either but I think that’s there‘s a chance since Bernardo has been named captain now.
We don’t know the insights but I always thought 2/3 of them would leave.
The club has to sell some. Can’t expect everyone to leave for free.
