The Squad planning thread

Let's be real, we can afford it

Need to stop being so nice in the window

Our revenues are best in the league, we have a high turnover of youth players for top fees as our academy is the best in world football
To back that up

United, Chelsea & Arsenal have a "net spend" of approx. £750mil over the last 5 years, that's £150mil a season every season not just money spent but money spent overall factoring sales

None of those teams have struggled with PSR or FFP or cash flows etc.

Our revenues are higher than both and our 5 years tracking has us at £350mil net spend over the last 5 years, significantly less than those and also less than Liverpool, Newcastle, Spurs and on par with Nott Forest and West Ham

Let's put out a statement for team that's losing its core players who gave us great success over the last decade

Best part of £250m that when you factor in signing fees. Also no RB?

I think if we win the 115 case and the new Etihad deal goes through along with FAB then it wouldnt surprise me to see quite a splash again next summer and these would be 3 homegrown younger players as well with huge talent already and room to go even further under Pep? Khusanov imo could make that RB position his own and Rico could be back up and maybe Nunes stays?

Thought the only change to the Etihad deal was the escalator part so there wouldn't be a new big deal. I don't expect any great expenditure next summer, the players we sign or don't sign will be dependent on how those on loan Nypan, Echeverri, Reis, Bah perform over the season and the younger players like O'Reilly, Mukasu, Bobb develop over the season.

I think of the loan crew, only maybe Reis comes back next summer mate personally but if Olise and Wharton were attainable then i think we would be foolish to not push for them. I dont think Savinho will make it at City and can see him gone in a year or two max.

Think Nypan will to replace Kovacic and if Gonzalez and O'Reilly carry on improving doubt we go for Wharton. Possibly Olise if he wanted to leave Bayern but Savinho is only 21 absoloutely no reason he cant step up in the same way Doku has this season, same with Bobb. Guessing at this stage of the season what we will or won't need next summer is complete just that guesswork but don't think it will be more than a couple of players in and fullback still more likely than any other positions.

Bah seems to be doing well Nypan, will be promising, Echeverri looks very promising not sure if they will all be ready next year but I suspect Bah and Echeverri will be but regardless I don’t see them going other than on loan.

I also find it odd that you would suggest Savinho given the new contract

But if he doesnt improve from what he is now then the extension will have cost more in wages but his book value will have decreased by a lot and we would still make good profit on him?

Please use the correct phrase

Whatever the outcome, with that crop of youngsters we’re either going to have a handful of potential world class players or get some serious money back from sales.

Dont see us ever going for Livramento now, especially with the injuries.

Livramento to me is like Stones - potential to be one of the greats, but is injury prone

everything else depends on outgoings, i'm certain that outgoings might be

Ortega - contract ends and not needed anymore
Ake - contract ends and no talks about extension
Stones - there is talks about extension
Nunes - not required in CM and Khusanov practically has ousted him out of RB
Kovacic - a lot talks about move to KSA and Turkey
Silva - contract ends and no talks about extension

we need an RB, Midfielder, CB

RB - i'd would pull all the stops to get Singo, solid, can play multiple positions, fairly injury free, physical, fast, can dribble, ok passing ability. and price is fairly fair - 60mil. Livramento are injury prone, Vanderson has similar build to Lewis
CB - Vitor Reis will need one more year on loan, he is clearly not ready for Prem, Juma Bah started strong but has fizzled out recently, proably one more year on loan, most sensible option would be Guehi - great market opportunity or no one at al, if we sign Singo, then he could play there if needed and put Khusanov/Lewis in RB

DM/CM Manu Kone/Javi Guerra/Wharton/Barrios would be great shouts

so i'd expect 3-4 signings

we are stacked in attack as is, doubt we would move for Yildiz
Olise maybe, if we sell Marmoush, Doku or Savio

give time for Mukasa and Mcaidoo

I dont think Savio is here in two years time mate, i personally dont think he`s made for this league in a physical sense the way that Doku is so if we could get Olise then it would be a huge upgrade. Bernardo will go on a free and i think Kovacic will leave next summer, same as Nunes which then hopefully we bring Wharton in. I`d let Stones AND Ake leave, maybe even in January and try and sign Guehi in January and thern bring Singo in next summer.

Hopefully not, because that would mean some of our other signings and academy players had failed. For what it's worth I don't think most will

I think the following are gone by the end of next summer latest:

Ortega
Stones
Ake
Nunes
Bernardo
Kovacic

Savinho i reckon is gone in two years time latest as his book year will be basically nil and they would get at least £30m for him.
