The Squad planning thread

Stones
Kovacic
Phillips

A brilliant player, an average player and a terrible player.

They are all too injury prone and approaching the end of their careers. Getting their salaries of our books would help tremendously.
Stones: always injured and huge salary, Phillips: garbage and big salary, Kovacic however is a decent player and can still be a very useful addition to the squad for next year before leaving on a free.

Yeah you aren’t on your own with that belief. I think he is ok going forward but abysmal going backwards… opponents just walk past him. Not good enough for me.

Out:

Stones
Ake
Akanji
Kovacic
Phillips
Bernardo
Grealish
Alleyne (loan)
Some EDS sales

In:

Anderson
Smit
Kayode

Return

Reis

Would do me nicely
I think Inter must buy Akanji if they win Serie A (they are currently first in the standings). We're rooting for them to finish the season that way. As for Grealish, it would be good to get any amount of money for him

If the season finishes with us coming up short, and we’ve had the majority of players back for the final months, then I’m not sure any of those three would immediately improve the first team. It’s also difficult to see us accommodating 5 first-team centre backs, unless we occasionally change formation or deploy some at fullback, too.

Remaining months should be interesting.

With both Stones and Ake departing (hopefully nothing disrupts their exit), it opens up space for either Alleyne or Reis to stay.

Having one of them remain isn't just desirable—it’s necessary, as our center-backs have been constantly sidelined with injuries over the past few seasons.

Guehi
Gvardiol
Dias
Khusanov
Reis/Alleyne

Seems decent.

Akanji going there anyway mate as I’m sure I read he’s done well and it’s only €15m

Rather depends on how much Guardiola is prepared to rotate. He managed with 5 in the last two seasons, but it came with some being prepared to play at fullback. If we have dedicated fullbacks, however, it rather narrows the options.

Donnarumma
Trafford (hopefully)
Nunes
Kayode or Read
Dias
Khusanov
Reis
Gvardiol
Guehi
Ait Nouri
O’Reilly
Rodri
Gonzalez
Anderson
Smit
Cherki
Foden
Semenyo
Doku
Marmoush
Savinho
Haaland

Looks a good squad if everyone stays fit?
