I don't think we did ourselves any favours in the summer regarding long-term thinking.
I know many are absolute in the innocence of the 115 charges, but I 100% believe the club have held back this summer just in case worst case scenario occurs, because I cannot see us allowing ourselves to be put in a scenario where we need to replace KDB, Walker next summer and have Kovacic, Gundogan, Grealish, Ederson, Akanji, Stones, Ake and Bernardo Silva all in their 30s by next season.
Add in the fact the uncertainty over Pep's future.
We have a lot of ageing players at the moment, of whom many are our key players and to replace them all we could be looking at 100s of millions needed to be spent.
Next summer is potentially the biggest since 2010/11 because we could be left with an ageing squad, the best midfielder and right back the PL has seen leave the club and the best manager of all time maybe leaving.
