The Squad planning thread

It’s crazy to think that the club thought Gundogan and Savinho was enough. What would have happened if Gundogan wasn’t available? Would they of got nobody? If so that’s very worrying. I’m going to be called a rag or whatever but I can’t imagine that the 115 case hasn’t affected the club in terms of squad planning. We’re told we earn all this money, the most success in England for the last 2 years but we get outspent by Ipswich when there’s blatant question marks in the team.
What’s even funnier is that every summer the club briefs that we’ve got this warchest to spend and then we pretty much spend what we bring in with sales if that . 100 percent they are not spending because of 115 imo

they spent 80m on gvardiol during the charges so im going to say that they think the squad is fine rather than the charges but maybe im wrong. they also put in a cheeky 80m (?) bid for rice.

I'd cash in on :
Stonesy
Walker
Bernardo
Grealish
Kevin .
---------
also consider replacing
Kovatich
Ake
Nunes.

Most have been amazing stalwarts but we must not let sentimentality impact on a re build .

We must find pace, strength and youth in a new squad.
The pass pass pass style must change to be more direct .

You've kinda made the argument yourself. We play differently depending on who is playing RB.. So Pep, as he always has, could adapt slightly to have an attacking rightback. Our set-up isn't rigid and never has been.
He isn't/wasn't going to change hence they were let go. He's seems completely married to this 316 or 3241 for now. He kinda used gvardiol as the wide player end of last season to get Foden in the middle but not since then. He felt neither was needed which i kinda agree with even not being a fan of this 316 thing

Players we need to cycle out:

- Stones (love him but too injury prone and doubt that improves now he's 30)
- Ake (love him as well but too injury prone and will be 30 in February.)
- Walker (34 and in a decline)
- Bernardo (love him but playing 7 straight years of 50+ games has left him physically drained)
- Grealish (love the lad but the next evolution of city wing play need Doku, Savio and Bobb as the main pieces)

Maybe:

- Kev (arguably our best player but becoming more injury prone with long term muscular injuries)
- Gundo (age has caught up and his legs are just not there. Might keep him around on a limited role basis for leadership)
- Kova (hard worker and been a productive player but we need youth, energy and legs in the midfield)

Bernardo is a god but his usual eye of the tiger is more like a glass eye this season.
