The Squad planning thread

If the club continues with Doku, Savinho, Haaland, and Foden together, then the club needs to find midfielders and defenders that can run up and down the park.

If the club wants to go with Grealish, Bobb, Haaland, and Foden together, then the club needs to find midfielders and defenders that are technically superior and much more comfortable on the ball.

We currently have 3 players that need to be nursed through a season (Ake, Stones, and de Bruyne) one that is heading that way (Grealish) and one that might well head that way (Rodri). Tough decisions to be made.

Txiki imo checked out a year ago or so. I cannot understand why were we happy with what we had after Gundo and Savinho and also making sure we lose two strikers(Delap, JA) to put added game time pressure on Haaland and zero sensible rotation option for him. almost like we did with Rodri, except there we bought Phillips, but thats not something to praise Txiki with LOL.

it wasnt that long ago we wanted a lot firepower added to our midfield in Bellingham and then made a bid for Rice. and also looked at Paqueta. now since then our midfield aged like milk, we added Nunes who we use as a left winger, and Gundo came back but we might as well bring back Yaya Toure and Fernandinho too...

to me this opposite of great planning.

Well going forward these are the players we build the side around.

Haaland, Foden, Savinho, Gvardiol, Dias, Rodri, Doku, Bobb. . As can be seen the majority of these are attackers.
We could keep Kev and use him sparingly as he is still has it. Kovacic too. Nunes is youngish.Lewis squad player.
But we need to get rid of Walker.Gundo, past it, Stones, Ake always injured.

So throw in two goalkeepers I make that 14. We need a RB, another CB a LB.
A Rodri helper and a striker. That's 5 first team starters. So that this season isn't a complete write off I'd suggest getting the Rodri helper in now.

Walker
Silva
Stones
Gundo
Kdb

All out the door in the summer for me..
Grealish
Nunes

We need a new DM, CM, LB, RB, CB and SS.

This is never going to happen in one transfer window, certainly not the first transfer window of a new director of football.
It takes at least two years to integrate so many new players into a football team, especially Pep's team. This only highlights the magnitude of the failure of our last summer transfer window.

We chased the net spend trophy and started to turn into latter years Arsenal under Wenger signing up and coming promising players and second rate players.
