Gundogan played 50 games for Barca with a very solid overall season. On a free it made sense. However, nobody could have seen how bad it would be, he literally is playing like hes 50yrs old. I don't know wtf has happened inside the few months that we ended up signing him but its frightening.Seems like this has been on the horizon for 2years but no one at the club could see it. Going back for Gundogan was a massive mistake but thats the tip of the iceberg.

For the record, I've long been an admirer and considered him the ideal replacement for Gundogan (he's not, for me, a defensive midfielder). That said, his wife gave birth to their first child in February, I think, and they appear to be settled in Milan, so I'm not sure he'll be an immediate option.
The recruitment team have done a fantastic job but they are also human and not beyond mistake. I've pointed out before that Reijnders and Nunes share similar traits, but even at AZ it was clear that he was a special talent and one with a high ceiling; his ability to arrive late in the box is uncannily similar to Gundogan.You know full well that its not that simple.
