Going forward we will, once Stones and grealish move on, would rather have some of our qouta being homegrown so we don't have to have the foreign qouta maxed out with the only home grown being subpar or academy products not quite good enough
 
I think we have to look beyond our keepers. Courtois has always been immense. I used to call him inspector gadget when he played for Chelski. He has only gotten better over the last several years. He is like Pantillimon with style.

Keep in mind you left off Kova, McAtee and Nunes.

Assuming you mean to let them go too, you realize the madness of your list in terms of players your letting go?

Its at 11. Thats not how football works.

You are likely underestimating the GK situation if all you think we need is an academy player.

We likely need a world class one.
 
Think it wil be like for like this summer. Based on who we have been linked with.

Walker replaced by Cambiaso.

Gundog by an Ederson or someone. Even Kimmich on a free.

KDb by (fingers crossed) Wirtz.

Cant see much more than that unless Ederson decides he wants to leave, or someone pays 50m for Grealish or someone buys Nunes.

more will have to go just based on CL registration numbers alone, Echeverri and Reis are already not in the squad and here. think we'll see more leave with no one bought in for them

Good point, could spell the end for Nunes, either Doku or Grealish could be a possibiity, possibly McAtee. He will be 22 next season and should be playing regular football somewhere by that age. Tough decisions ahead.

There were 4 (5 with Echeverri) incomings in January and only 1 outgoing so I think it goes without saying that more will leave than come in in the summer
 
I’ve seen people on X claim we could get rid of Kovacic, Gundogan and Nunes and we wouldn’t have to buy another 8, box to box type.

That would probably get us £100m or so.

Just said in the Wirtz thread that I wouldn’t turn my nose up to him but I think this squad has bigger issues than AM and we’re stacked in the attacking positions. I think another CM is crucial as we can’t expect to rely on Rodri to play 70 games a season again. Baleba would give the side power and energy, as well as more youth. Perhaps Oreilly can be trusted with more minutes next season and that allows us to sign Wirtz instead of a CM. The big lad for the EDS team looks a great prospect and perhaps he may be given a spot for LB.

James Trafford - homegrown GK, buy-back clause (?)
Walter Benitez - Veteran goalkeeper with CL experience for a dominant Eredivisie team playing Cruyff football, on a free out of contract.
Dean Hujsen - PL proven youngster, release clause. Looks destined to be one of the best of his generation.
Jeremie Frimpong - Club-trained, release clause (?), can play right-back and right-winger depending on system and opposition. Bundesliga winner.
Adam Wharton - Talented, homegrown, right time to take a punt on him before his price increases further with the players moving on and the added security in that position with Nico
Angel Gomes - formerly Manchester-based, homegrown(?) talented 8 done well at international level for England. Out of contract in the summer, cheap option to replace Bernardo/Gundo. Huge resale value if he doesn't stake out a spot long-term
Florian Wirtz - break the bank

How is that for a reasonable rebuild?

Assuming Ake moves on because of his injury woes (can't afford to carry both him and Stones now), Gundogan/Bernardo/KdB all leave, Grealish out looking likely. Both Ederson and Ortega leaves

Nunes haven't played in the middle since his move to City

I guess we don't need to replace Gundogan and Kovacic, because hopefully The 2 Nicos & Rodri & Mcatee will be enough.
 
4 or 5 new additions.

If Ortega is to let go then we need a new goal keeper who is young and in sync with modern football requirements. Keep Ederson.

A specialist RB with rico being the understudy.
A specialist LB. Cambiasso hopefully
A CM. Someone who is a mixture of lets say Gundo/verrati/Fabregas
A AM....Wirtz although I personally prefer Musiala but he has extended his contract so Wirtz hopefully.
