The Squad planning thread

Would like to see Pep change his approach with this full backs. PSG have got two, fast attacking full backs. We’ll end up with Cambiasso who will be asked to come inside instead of hugging the line.

Pep believes in possession football because it negates all teams even the very best! What we need to stop transition is like a sweeper behind Rodri a fast defender and khosonov been that if you look at some of his covering in a couple of games to stop majority of transitions from the very best teams!

I`d love the chaos of Frimpong mate? Yeah, slightly suspect defending at times but Khusanov with his pace covering as well could help?

Chevalier
Frimpong
Kerkez
Wharton
Cherki
Baena
Delap
I think most of baena created numbers come from corners and free kicks? Don’t know about his game. Do corners and free kicks even count to that data ?

That would help as well as ours are currently shite! lol He`s a great passer as well mate, £50m release clause as well.

Of course even with TH's decent track record he could be wrong or it might not happen even if there is a deal in place as the deal could colapse but with the news about KDB and potentially this I would say its encouraging that we are moving some players on....Obviously we will move on the likes of Nunes and maybe fringe players lke McAtee as well..hopefully Walker as well

thats a good start in freeing up wages and squad places - lets hoe we dont waste it on averageness like Morgan GW however!
Jack wants to go to the World Cup and doesn't want to bluff running down the remainder of his deal.

I assume if City are asking a low fee, it will offset his massive wages to the buyer.

You never know, a footballer might even be willing to take a pay cut, but let's see.

Think there is any substance in the Cherki rumours Tolm?

Don't be too surprised to see City go after the domestic market this summer.

PSR will open up opportunities and perhaps more realistic valuations, as opposed to the continent.

Morgan Gibbs-White, Wharton, Branthwaite, Delap, Rodgers, etc.
Our record in the domestic market in recent years (particularly post 2020 or so) is like a horror movie. personally would rather sign from pretty much anywhere else.

Think he is severely hampered by the fact that he is expected to be gritty player in that front three. His best football comes when he can cut in from the left, which is a position they have already have painted themselves into a corner with Mbappe and Vini.

Doue is another miss from us. Not sure what other goalscoring winger rocks around currently guaranteeing goals?

We really should have gone for Olise
I've liked him as a player for a while, but he's stagnated for two seasons now, and we're in such a delicate position this summer that we can't afford (more so financially with our budget and what Madrid would want for him) to take a chance on such inconsistent players and revive careers. However, for under 80 M, and/or after addressing our midfield and fullback issues, why not?

As a French kid, it would have been hard to get Doue out of France at that age. He and his entourage reportedly strung along Bayern all summer while holding out for PSG to make the move so.

For the right wing, Olise was the one. A complete winger and and had a 60 m clause but we seemed hesitant or unsure. Just to add to the list of bizarre decisions (or indecisions) we've made recruitment-wise in the last few windows.

For the left wing, top-class options are few and far between but Kvara should have been the one. A market opportunity in January but because of past mistakes that needed addressing, that was never a goer for us.
Only realistic targets now are Semenyo from Bournemouth or Nico Williams and a wild shout in Ben Seghir from Monaco but the last two are still quite raw and inconsistent and we have enough of those wingers so

Few people mentioning delap.
If we are goi g for a back up striker, I'd rather some one like Jonathan david who is on a free transfer and more proven than delap, although not in the PL

Enrique believes in possession based football, PSG are just loads quicker at getting the ball up top. We used to play like that in Pep’s first few seasons and now he’s obsessed with total control. We rarely hit teams on the counter due to the worry of turning the game into a basketball match. Would like to see a slight change in tactics, if not then that’s fair enough as long as we see an improvement next season.

Pretty sure we won't be, enough to do making space for tthe other positions we need more. If we did though Delap would make sense as he would be club trained I think. Doubt we'd make very much sense to Delap though.

people need to remember we can only pick 20 players a PL game, that's 5 at least not even making the bench in a game week (as well as all the kids we wanna see etc)

How the address this will be fascinating for nerds like me, you can see why they target lads who can do a few roles/positions to cut numbers.

lets hope so...it hasnt worked with Grealish here (yes he has won medals but his performances have mostly been average) and i think a move for all parties is best
