The Squad planning thread

Nico Williams is a left Wing. So we would buy LW to play on RW? Cambiasso is something I will never understand but who knows what Pep is planning

He can invert in mate or play left at times when Savinho plays? Cambiaso just seems likely its going to happen.

I believe there are pretty strict rules regarding loan players. If I am reading your post correctly, you have eight players suggested for loan, and four of those from the Premier League?

Or, am I completely misunderstanding what you are getting at?
Are those PL rules or CWC rules? but you are right, that is not necessarily what i am getting at, the CWC is far more important to City than the PL or the CL next season, our focus should be on the CWC. The way we go about business has to evolve, loans, instalments, bonuses, signing on fees and amortization, all have to be looked at. Wirtz for example, good player but what do we do with Foden? lets say he costs £150 million, not a major problem, but it takes up a major part of City`s budget, his wages probably £300,000 a week are a problem. City need to evolve, and the CWC is the primary target, regardless of what the red cartel media try to indoctrinate us with.

Don't think we'll do anything with the centre backs this summer, probably keep both Ake and Stones,

I wouldn’t be so sure.

“The key to his success is his proactivity. Viana is not one to wait around for star players to leave before going on the search for replacements”

Can see why there’s talk of Antonio Silva if this is Vianas approach. Young centre back. Can replace Stones and Ake.

would help Bernardo go to Benfica as well?

Yeah and would explain why we might look at Wingers as well. Bernardo plays on the wing most games. Viana must know his replacement already.
Trincao would be my guess then, if its a wide player with the way the lineup 'seems' to be going. Think it'll be MGW more likely in the 'every role 8' if its the middle player.

Personally, I don’t see it happening—we’re already stacked at the back, even if Stones and Aké leave. With Dias, Gvardiol, Reis, Khusanov, and Bah (on loan), we have solid depth, even though some of them are fairly inexperienced. Plus, we're looking to bring in fullbacks. But let’s say we do decide to bring in another centre-back for whatever reason—if we landed Antonio Silva or even Hincapié, I’d be ecstatic! One of the two would bring even more quality and depth to an already strong, albeit youthful, defensive lineup.

I think we'll be proactive in building our squad for the future but I don't think we'll cut too many existing players. De Bruyne was a big and bold call. He's been injured a lot, has underperformed and is on big wages. So they'll cut the rope.

But others have contracts and I think we'll see a similar position where we let them run down, whilst the next generation are already at the club learning and developing. We will want to avoid a similar scenario to this season where we're reliant on older players and have too small a squad to cope.
