Lol, on a more psychological level. At least having everyone present on the bench so there's none of this feeling bad they dint make the match day squadWhat's it gonna matter, he's only going to use 3 of them after 75 minutes anyway?

A left winger is the most important thing we need as we need to get some service for big EarlFor me: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Akanji, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Grealish, McAtee are my permanent exits. Reis and Echeverri may be well be loaned out - would like them to stay id they are good enough though.
Goalkeeper, 2 full-backs, 2 midfielders, potentially a winger
Like a certain Egyptian we just signed?A left winger is the most important thing we need as we need to get some service for big Earl

I actually wouldn't be surprised with the incomings we need, that more outgoings happen and reduce the squad size to a slightly smaller one than now, but of higher quality.
I assume whatever happens with the goalies, that its a direct swap for whoever we bring in. No net change there.
OUT
Grealish
McAtee
Kevin
Gundogan
Stones
Ake or Akanji
IN
Wesley (whichever RB, he has highest links)
LB (whoever, I like Kerkez more than Cambiasso but fine).
Reijnders
MGW
This is a squad of 24, that while Pep just said he doesn't want a big squad, has lots of youth there to make up the numbers, I believe Pep's biggest issue with a big squad is having too many senior-type players like Grealish.

You've made me realize I forgot to put Bernardo in there! He wont get rid of Akanji and 1 of Stones or Ake.
Only 1 of those 3 will go. Some on here won't like it but Reis and Khusanov could easily be loaned out this summer, the former definitely will be.
Not a chance Bernardo goes either imo, after Rodri he's the next most important midfielder to keep hold of.

Pep should not be allowed to loan out khusanov. Move on whoever is next in line. If gvardiol is going to cb then 1 of ake and akanji goes, whoever can be trusted more to stay fit stays. He wont get rid of Akanji and 1 of Stones or Ake.

The flipside of this is we are Man city not Sporting. Here players/managers should have instant success and a continuous success as well. For every good signing there are 2/3 flop signings at Sporting and clubs like sporting like Dortmound, Lyon etc.I think the players that we sign are going to make people gnash their teeth and say we arent serious or dont know what we are doing etc etc but viana has a reputation for signing unknown players and making them into absolute worldies, look at the players he has signed for sporting and where they are (god knows we could do with some of them), hopefully city are just cutting out the middle man and not having to sign these players for 80-100 million after theyve been somewhere else.
We will try but will they go ? If they want also who will take them with that salary.I see Simon Bajkowski is reporting that Gundo and Bernie are likely to stay next season. I'm not sure I agree with that strategy. I'd be trying to move on both of them.
Reis most likely will be loaned out, same goes to EcheverriI actually wouldn't be surprised with the incomings we need, that more outgoings happen and reduce the squad size to a slightly smaller one than now, but of higher quality.

Edit: I forgot Bernie! Slot in at RCM, squad size is actually 25. Still rather big, but simply because it has lots of youth in it, that I prefer as backups than a bunch of older, injury prone players tbh!
Well according to reports we want 2 fullbacks and 2 midfielders so Viana might not care what pep wants. Pep will be here max 2 years and the club already knows that. I hope the club don’t go against certain players who will be the future just because pep refuses them for whatever reasons. Can’t force Bernardo and Gundo out but have to make sure that the new guys ( Reijnders, Gonzalez , MGW) start ahead of them.I honestly don’t see it. Maybe ederson, grealish and one of stones or ake follow kdb out. Along with fringe players like mcatee and prob a loan for reis
I think we sign maybe 3 players (1 being a gk) It’s pep. It’s the way he is. He has always liked a small squad and he is so loyal to his favourites.
Gundo, Bernardo, kovacic will all be here next season and I expect them to all play a lot of football.
I don’t think it’s the right thing to do but it would be naive to think otherwise. I think pep does one more year and Bernardo and Gundo leave with him
What comments
It better be the likes of Stones or Akanji, not Reis, Khusanov and Echeverri. If Pep is allowed to decide, you know what to expect...true.
i think 7-8 players will go soon.
