Walker, grealish and mcatee with remaining contracts beyond this summer all expected to be shifted out this summer along with any other peripheral players from the academy or returning from loans.

I anticipate Reis and Echeverri could be loaned out or if they stay, they'll be league options only and won't be added to the CL squad.

For the prurposes of the league, some of those in that list are under aged and so dont actually need to be registered this upcoming season but would need to be for the CL.

It's entirely possible we just leave 1 or 2 out of the league phase of the CL squad and qe can revisit it in jan/feb when we might have injuries or others potentially leave the club in Jan and thats something i'd prefer and want us to be doing. Last season shown we need as much cover as possible, and with no rest this summer, we can pretty much guarantee we'll be fucked with injuries regularly next season, possibly even more than last and only a full squad will do.

For now, i'm assuming we are working on the basis of tailoring the squad to fit the strictest rules though so that currently leaves us 2 free spots over. Stones or ake moving on doesn't help us due to their homegrown status, gundo is the only likely one

Theres room for 1 extra hg player without it changing the squad setup (potentially livramento) but other than that, I honestly dont think we'll sign anybody else this summer. At least not immediately for the first team, i can see us making a few Echeverri style signings where we do deals and leave them at their club for now but any more business this summer will require one out first in addition to those expected to leave and I don't think anybody is going so we're likely done.

Given Dias is 28, I'd hope thats at least 2-3 years off. He should get enough games in the mix of RB and cover CB till then. In 3 years time, Gvardioll will be 26 and Khusanov 24. They'll both have plenty of experience and their best years ahead of them. Reis and Bah both 22 at that point as well. If all those mentioned may the progress expected we're set for 10 years.
True. And Dias has huge experience and is a great leader. But I wonder if Khusonov played more what we might see in midfield. But we'll see.

Looking at that CWC squad we’re going to have to get rid of quite a few players. We can’t be leaving out 6/7 players every week

After these new midfield signings and Rodri’s return surely kovacic, Gundogen, Mcatee and even Bernardo have to leave ? Especially with pep wanting a smaller squad.

Reis - loan
Echeverri - loan
Rico- sell- Livramento in
John stones- sell
One of Ake or Akanji- Sell
Bernardo/Gundo- one of them sell
Gibbs white in.

That’s minus 6 from the 25 man but + a rb and Gibbs white- 21 man squad and rest filled in with youth players when required imo- that’s two quality players in each position, which should be enough imo

Here is a challenge. From the CWC squad construct two EQUALLY matched teams each with 2 subs (leaving out our new third choice keeper). Only using any player once obviously. When you are finished it should be hard to pick a winner if they played each other. Not a first and second team. Different formations are allowed.

Only if you are bored like.

I went with trying for an older, more experienced (at least at City) 11 vs a younger, less experienced (on the whole) 11 with new signings and potential:

Ortega
Nunes Stones Dias Gvardiol
Rodri Bernardo
Foden Gundogan Doku
Haaland

Subs: Ake, Akanji

Ederson
Lewis Khusanov Reis Ait-Nouri
Gonzalez Reijnders
Cherki Bobb Savinho
Marmoush

Subs: O'Reilly, Echeverri
