Our captain has spoken!​

Finally, someone is making public what many of us have been lamenting over for years.

"Guardiola wants to trim his squad this summer and even some of the 24 outfield players who have travelled to the United States could leave, as well as those not involved such as Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, Kalvin Phillips and James McAtee, but Bernardo wants the kind of depth currently on show to be maintained, allowing City to maintain the tempo as they did at the Camping World Stadium.

"We have a big squad, especially in this tournament, hopefully for the season," said Bernardo. "The impact that these players have had, not just on this game, but on other games as well, has been massive.

"Once again today the guys that came from the bench, they helped us a lot. And you need everyone to be successful."

Hopefully, this puts to rest all the "We only need a small squad" & "Our small squad did 4 in a row including a treble", arguments to bed, once & for all.

Bernardo's right.
I know Pep hates managing a 'big' squad but in 12 months you'd expect Bernardo, Gundogan, Stones, Kovacic, Ake(?)/Akanji to have moved on.

Keeping younger players around and learning from Pep and his backroom staff (never mind seeing working with the top players as well) will make that transition so much smoother.

Quite possible, of course, but their respective contracts don’t expire until 2027.

Kovacic.

Lewis & Reis remain, & Gundog goes, which leaves space for Livramento.

I was impressed with his keepie uppie skills on the beach, but not that much… ;-)
You need to lose three of the ‘foreign’ players from team two, I think.

Treble run in vibes. Camavinga should beg his agent to get to play as a 6 for Pep. Rodri becomes the new Stones. There's not enough width, but damn it I want to jam camavinga in here.

The Ballon D’Or winner doesn’t get moved out of position in order to shoehorn someone else in.
 
Looking at last night's squad we have far too many players. We need a serious clear out. Ake Stones Gundo should be certs to leave

Currently, I can see us selling Kovacic but having to loan out Gonzalez, Khusanov, and Echeverri. Not my preference, but based on others’ contracts and where these three seem to be on the pegging board, it’s what I can envisage happening.

One problem might be that of those you see leaving 4 are home grown added to Walker, Grealish and Phillips.

How many do we need for EPL and CL

We have Foden, Bobb, O'Reilly, Lewis, Ake.

Is that enough?
