The Squad planning thread

Really? That’s genuinely a surprise. Unfortunately it shows just how poorly we’ve spent it then! Too many projects and gambles instead of known, proven quality.
Cherki - greatest chance creator in Europe's top five leagues for a team that finished 6th.

Reijnders -Serie A midfielder OTY.

Marmoush - leading Bundesliga g/a stats at the time of signing

Kusanov - leading u21 defensive stats in five leagues.

There are NO guarantees, as Wirtz shows.

We are not dummies, it just takes time, as it has with Arsenal, but it's a time that we have learnt to not have the patience for.

To quote Fabian Delph. We are not doing the basics right.

Our press is all over the place , our passing is inconsistent, we have too many players that can’t win their duels. Also we are losing second balls consistently.

We have talent in the squad but we are failing at the most basic principles. Basic defensive errors , losing the midfield battle etc

Not aggressive enough in midfield the only one who is , is Nico G, Foden , Reijnders , Cherki and Bernardo are getting bullied off the ball.

We need some aggressive duel winning players in the middle

We do but they need to be technically gifted as well. Any ideas?

I didn’t see the game on Tuesday, but from what I’ve heard and reading peoples reactions on here, it doesn’t sound good.
The thing is, regardless of making ten changes, these players that played, should be good enough.

You can’t call it a reserve lineup, because these guys have been purchased for great sums and not just back ups, they are and should be expected to play in the first eleven.

If that group of players have aspirations of playing regularly, then they are required to be of the quality and ability of the regular first team.

I was told that they looked like they didn’t know each other or hadn’t played with each other before, FFS they’re together every single day (except rest days off), so this just isn’t good enough.

Therefore if it requires a clear out, then so be it, get the players in of the quality required and have a smaller squad of first team regulars, with the rest being made up of young talent.

It’s not rocket science, but this needs to happen and they players need to be either world class or close to elite.

We have bought average and have therefore become average. There are a few player like Foden Rodri Haaland etc who are at the required level to compete at the very top but we simply don’t have enough at that level. We also lack a match winner like De Bruyne

We aren’t anywhere near average. The issue is getting back to elite level.

Because the goalkeeper HAD TO LEAVE while Haaland didn’t come from a top 5 team. This are different circumstances
He didnt have to come to us however..Donarumma could have gone to many clubs in various leagues.

We need to shoot higher than we have been doing in our transfer dealings.....we need players who are absolute killers....our lot for the most part are soft as shit with the exceptions of a few

No think your incorrect, no other club was willing or could to pay his wages, maybe Saudi!

Don't think anybody knows the full story tbh. She's stayed with him and even the girls dad said it was a load of nonsense and supported Greenwood. Why would any father support a lad who'd raped and battered their daughter? Think about it. Just don't believe it's all what you think it is. Seems like a load of nonsense to me.
Because of the generational wealth. Some people are sick and fucked up when it comes to money. They made up, she got pregnant, they played it off as role play.

The blokes a ****.

Talented? Sure, but there’s more to representing this club than just talent.

Two weeks ago, this thread was far quieter.
Think a right back is justified as something we were looking at but never moved on.

There are obviously overreactions on here.

Maybe City potentially feel some players aren’t offering enough. But normally we persist. Last year was an anomaly

so you think we were his only option...one of the bst goalkeepers in the world?

come on!

we are one of the biggest clubs now in world football - we should be looking at attracting top of the shelf quality players.....I dont mean superstars like madrid do...but world class players with the right attitude...

Besides Haaland and Donarumm who in the last couple of season get ANYWHERE near that description....maybe Gvardiol? (I think that is pushing it)

We dont need every new player to be that level but at least some of them do but most if not all of them baring the ones mentioned have been project players. (and most of them havent worked out so far)
