The Squad planning thread

Rogers looks great there is no denying that!

I cant see a world where Semenyo choses the rags over us, feels like Berate shouting his mouth like usual. Liverpool fair enough but United no. wouldn't be surprised to see Liverpool recall Harvey Elliot to cover these injuries as opposed to spend on Semenyo.

Harvey Eliot is going back to Liverpool.
Villa will not play him as they do not want to trigger a buy clause, based on his appearances.
I think Jadon Sancho could be heading back to the rags as well.

Depending on the Rodri situation, we may also want to look at a midfielder in January rather than waiting until the summer? Otherwise we run the real risk of running Nico into the ground in the same way we did Rodri.
I know people tire of posters banging the same drum repeatedly - a mobile CM is far more critical currently for me

Keepers and defenders we have good depth, in the midtfield the dept is worring, since we dont have good option as a world class playmaker to take the spot to KdB if hes form is lacking and getting older, se we need suitable replacement for him now that can learn from him and take his place, Ilkay Gundogan contract is expering after this season and Bernardo Silva situastion is unclear in long run, not season to season.
City need at least two new midtfielders that can have an imminent impact on the game and can replace KdB when needed without hurting the tactics and game flow. Strikers are covered for now but will be a crisis if an long therm injury accurs on one or both players, and F9 is just an emergency option.
Wingers lack good depth and aging Mahrez that plays good once in a while is not good enough.
Long therm depth can be good depen if the players can take the step up and play for A-team, the club should use homegrown/CFG/Akadamy much more, give them more trust and suddently you have your own Alexander-Arnold etc.

Not many option out there?
Jude Bellingham
Martin Ødegaard
Enzo Fernandez
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic?
Frankie de Jong?
Ruben Neves
Youri Tielemans?
Rafael Leao

Your opinions?
Decent squad that tbf

So it's looking like Semenyo in. Would imagine that means Bobb out next month, most likely on loan for now. Rumours of interest in Guehi and a possible exit for Ake whether in January or the summer. By the end of next summer we could end up with something like this:

In:
Semenyo
Guehi
New RB (Livramento?)
New DM (Anderson?)
New GK (2nd choice)
Reis (back from loan)
Echeverri (back from loan)

Out:
Bernardo
Stones
Ake
Kovacic
Trafford
Bobb

Donnarumma/New GK

Nunes/New RB/Lewis Dias/Khusanov/Reis Gvardiol/Guehi O'Reilly/Ait-Nouri

Rodri/New DM Nico/ Reijnders

Cherki/Savinho Foden/Echeverri/Mukasa Doku/Semenyo

Haaland/Marmoush

This squad for next season looks good to me with Semenyo, Guehi coming in, and bringing back Reis.

Assuming we move on from Stones, Ake and Bernie.

I realize I forgot Lewis, but he would be an extra bench player making the total at 22 players.

This would be a 4231 where the LB inverts turning into the typical 343 diamond we have been using alot this season (or 316 whichever name you prefer).

Using Foden deeper, and having Nunes and O Reilly as midfield options kinda alleviates those concerns, but I would also like an Elliot Anderson midfield type in if possible.

We need midfielders. Nico and Bernardo are being worked into the ground and no sign of Rodri or Kovacic coming back. Reijnders has become a bit of a squad problem. I'm sure he was bought as an 8 but has been poor in that role and is much better further forward. It's leaving the squad unbalanced.

Leavers.

Trafford (Think he'll leave imo)
Ortega
Stones
Ake (Jan)
Bobb (Loan) although I think we'll cut our losses and sell
Bernardo :-(
Marmoush / Savinho (Can see one going)
Kovacic?

Tolmie hinted at Anderson on Twitter for the summer.

Donnarumma
Bettinelli
?

Nunes
Rico
Khusanov
Dias
Gvardiol
Guehi (Jan) hopefully
O'Reily
Ait-Nouri

Anderson (In)
Rodri
Gonzalez
Foden
Cherki
Reijnders
Doku
Semenyo (Jan)
Savinho / Marmoush

Haaland

Another 1 or 2 players (22/23 man squad) and we'll have a very comfortable, competitive squad.

Future is blue.

That’s a lot of players to lose in one season. Proven winners as well, which will be hard to replace.

I’d expect to have another transition season if that happens

Six of those players leaving have barely played this season. Bernardo will be the one that may hurt us solely because of his experience. The rest haven’t done a thing all season. You’ve still got a core of players that have won trophies for us and the most important component, Pep.

It’s still a lot of experience and leadership to lose isn’t it? Surely stones will be a big miss as well - talent, leadership and for the fans.

If those players were fit, they could be the difference maker.

I can’t think of many teams that get rid of nine players and that make no difference

We'll still have plenty of leaders, Haaland, Donnarumma, Rodri, Dias we certainly won't be short.

For me Lewis is gone, getting very little game time and as soon as we get a left back he’ll gone
A LB? You mean RB?

I'm not so sure we'll go for one i think Pep will stick with Nunes, Khus and maybe use Guehi if we manage to sign him. Obviously I know fuck all tho :-)

Wouldn't harm Rico to go out on loan somewhere tho.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Morgan Rodger’s. 7g 3a. Can play both wings, 10 and false 9. I remember him in the academy he was outshined by palmer and McAtee. When he played against Leicester in the community shield he was useless. I never thought he was good enough but look at him now. He looks great.
Not good enough, wouldn’t look half the player in our set up against teams in low blocks. Doesn’t break down defences, he a kick and rush merchant who plays on the break.

Foden and Cherki are miles better.
