The Squad planning thread

Marmoush would start in any team in the prem, he won't accept sitting on the bench until Haaland gets an injury.
Who knows what players might or might not accept? What about all the £60m/£70m players at Arsenal who don't start regularly. You know, the Eze and Madueke's of this world?

Not a player for this January market but perhaps in the summer or next winter market City are closely monitoring a 17 yr old player with a buy out clause of €200m for any top clubs in Europe.

As you would imagine the player is already an international at youth level. The player is said to have visited the Etihad and campus in 2024. Manchester City are in a strong position and the fee will almost certainly not be €200m if City do sign him. Having seen videos of him I can see why City would be highly interested.

The player has been mentioned once on the transfer forum by another bluemooner as a player to watch.

Palmeiras lad?

Isn't it better to try molding Marmoush into one, rather than keep a much worse player in that position? I know Pep said Marmoush is a striker but surely he can do well on either flank. I hate to see a Julian Alvarez situation again. One of the worst piece of business this club has done in recent times was letting go of that kid, just because he couldn't take Haalands spot.

The Julian Alvarez that we bought for £14m and sold after playing 2 seasons for us for £82m? The Julian Alvarez that wanted to leave because we had Haaland as the number 9 and we wouldn't play himself as the main striker? That Julian Alvarez?

that fella. He would've stayed if Pep found a solution for him. He could have easily turned into a winger, same with Marmoush.

In his last season he started 31 out of 38 PL games plus subbed in, in 5 more. He played everywhere and I think played more minutes than any other outfield player, and you think he would have stayed if we played him as a winger (which we did)? Did you watch us at all that season?

Of course, I watch every game. Didn't know he played that much, so I guess it was something else then. Regardless, I'm hoping we find a solution for Marmoush.

No this Lad - Ruan Pablo

Basically plays for City football Group Club, Esporte Bahia. The report is about his time on exchange to Manchester City a year ago. Since then he has got into the Brazil National team and represented them at U17 World Cup where they reached the semis. City have continued to monitor him alongside another Bahia player, Dell, who also represented Brazil U17 World Cup team.

Was he the lad Aguero took around the CFG last season?
I don’t know if Aguero did? My clue ask Kun…. relates to @kun who referred to this player in a list of ‘players who might improve us’ thread.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we got rid of Savinho as well. As we’ve seen most of this season, it becomes problematic having a winger with no end product. Savinho has no end product, at least not even comparable with Semenyo.

Personally I’d be happy to get rid of Savinho. I’ve been patient with him but I’m done. He can’t score to save his life.
Agreed

It's true that Alvarez featured heavily in the League games, but he featured far less in the big games (Real Madrid both legs, Super Cup, FA Cup Final) and also in the closing games of the League season. A difficulty we have is making such players feel fully involved.

More broadly, we've proven that we can run a small squad to exceptional heights, but we now know that a small squad inevitably crashes. What we've yet to see is whether we can run a larger squad to those same exceptional heights and then, more importantly, remain there. We've been plagued with problems so far this season, meaning it's still unclear how well we are doing in making that adjustment.
