As you say, probably, but my point is that sans Cherki we don’t have a genuine creative alternative in the centre. The squad has enough depth at present to wait a little longer before deciding to move off Bobb.

Not sure we should expect a (then) eighteen-year old Norwegian boy to start in centre midfield in the Championship for a Middlesbrough pushing for promotion. The move was about getting him acclimatised to the physicality of English football and getting him qualified as homegrown. Much like Rogers, his development is going to take time but it should be worth the wait.
The club appears to be playing a much longer game than is appreciated.

I hope so. So many of these wonder kids never make it. Don't we have one from America somewhere? I really thought Echeverri would succeed too.

McFarland has only just turned 18 and Echeverri should do well at Girona, who are now climbing the table. We just need to be patient and give them time.
 
“One player away from a complete rebuild” hahaha.

I swear when we sign a player it’s like a shot of heroin to some. You become so disillusioned to the quality of the squad, it’s insane.

I know we've spent a fortune & also have injury issues but one look at our squad tells me it isn't anything like as strong as ones we've had previously.
As mad as it sounds, we still have to bring in some real top level players into this squad, especially in midfield.
We still have some work to do in the rebuild imo
 
The players we have are good, but we’ve lost considerable experience in the last windows, and the newer/younger ones have yet to assume the mantle, including guys that have been here for seasons. If we lose Silva, Kovacic, Ake, and Stones this summer, Rodri is going to be the only experienced one ahead of the defence. Need to see players stepping up in the coming months, or we might need to rethink the pace of the final overhaul.
 
We need a proper right back Lewis is hopeless there and just to weak. Not sure where he fits in tbh and he ain’t as good as the other midfielders we have
 
that window of summer 2024 still haunts us not just it cost us a lot last season, we should have been much more ahead in our rebuild that we are now.

also makes me question what Txiki was doing in his latest years given Viana now had to and still needs to clear lots of unwanted players still. at least half of these should have been done by Txiki. he even left us here his big one Phillips. 2.5 more years on his contract? I would deduct from Txiki's pension for that alone :)
