The Squad planning thread

Same with Grealish, think he only has a year but we won’t get a penny and may even have to fund part of his wages for the final season unless we give him a lump sum. Zero chance of a fee.

I think Jack could go on a fee mate and it was rumoured Everton want to do a deal at £25m but we wanted £40m

Some good analysis of that’s needed going forward and potentially players who should be making way.

Maresca likes a double pivot at dm so we certainly need depth in those positions. I’d be happy starting next year with Rodri, Anderson, Marius Fernandes and then giving Nico G a shot.

Cherki and Foden ahead pulling the strings as a 10.

Wings then Semenyo and Doku are guarantees, I’d love to get in Kroupi as the potential he has is ridiculous. I think the young lad mcadoo should be featuring more next season so mot to stunt his development, then Echeverri can be a menace also as he is raw but a lot going for him.

Giving Haaland and Marmoush the striker roles, but I can see Omar moving for more minutes so the young lad from Ligue 1 coming in. I’d say having the backup striker as a similar profile to Haaland is important.

Strange one but I’d take neco Williams as a fullback, been superb for forest all season and can play both sides. Gives some good depth and not a massive drop off in quality.

Dias, Marc, Khus and Gvardiol is more than enough at cb, but would love to get Reis back involved in some way.

Whatever happens though already I can’t wait to see what next season brings.

I can’t see it because he is on 300k a week here. He’s not getting half of that at Everton imo especially at his age and with his drink problem. No incentive for him to move and give that 12 months up. I think he goes on a free or another loan for the remaining year.

I agree with a lot of your points but Nico G is crap. As I said in another thread he’s not very good on the ball and he’s slow. Not agile and can’t take the ball to feet under pressure. Wouldn’t start for mid table PL clubs. Needs to be sold. Pep knew this and it was obvious. Go back to the continent in a slower league and maybe he can play the box to box role he did at Porto. Will never make it here very similar to Javi Garcia, tries hard but not good enough.
I dont think he has the brains to play a pep/rodri role. Maybe if we play a double pivot he might improve but if we could get a decent fee for him I would sell. The thing that has disappointed my most about Reijnders/Nico in particular is their attitude. Life is fun win/lose or draw and I don't believe they have grasped what it takes to be an important player in an elite squad. They both lack a winning mentality to me. Bernie was a good captain but I would have loved to see what Fern would have made of them.

Echeverri is currently nowhere near good enough for our squad.

Definitely going:
  • Bernado
  • Stones
  • Akanji
Probably/Should be going:
  • Lewis
  • Savinho
  • Reindjers
  • Ake
  • Kovakic
  • Phillips
  • Grealish

On borrowed time:
  • Marmoush
  • Ait Nouri
  • Dias
  • Nico
Waiting for them to show they still have it:
  • Foden
  • Rodri
Who's left?

Larrson isn’t remotely good enough for City at the moment. Awful season and couldn’t even make the Sweden squad.

If we got £60m, it would be akin to robbing the Sunday mass collection box.
Why would Spurs pay that amount, assuming that it is a real figure and not based on him getting 50 caps for Brazil and winnong the Balon D'or?
Because he has Mo Salah type potential. He beats his man for fun and puts in a mean cross. The only thing he lacks is confidence scoring. If that shows up, they have a World Class player on their hands.

I know lots of our fans don't rate his current output. But his potential is clearly humongous. Lets not forget a majority of our fabs didn't rate Doku's potential a mare 7 months ago.

Hugo Larsson has not developed well thus season. I am glad our transfer fell for him fell through. I was wrong about his developmemt.

Grealish doesnt strike me as someone who will dig his heels in over money. A deal can be reached for all parties. The lad will want to play football and he was getting back to some of his best at Everton.

Everton ended the season badly, other teams they should be competing with stole the European spots and they will be under big pressure to do some signings and fight for them spots next year. Grealish not at the World Cup, deal could happen quite quickly.

For all his real and perceived faults, I do think he is someone that just wants to be out on the pitch and playing. He doesn’t seem like someone that would be fine sitting around and collecting a salary if there was a chance to play at any level.
