The Squad planning thread

Personally I'd love it. I think he's a massive upgrade on Savinho and can play both on the right and centrally.

Scores and creates. No chance it happens though.
No mate I cant he's been awful for two seasons as well, not sure it works players coming back twice.

no, he wants to apparently

For example, Savio Moreira, James Trafford, Rico Lewis, Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush, Josko Gvardiol, and Tijjani Reijnders are not satisfied with their playing time. And some big names like Erling Braut Haaland and Rodrigo Hernández are also reportedly considering their future at the Etihad Stadium. Now, Rubén Dias must be added to this list, as he has begun to contemplate a change of scenery.

As with other top players, he believes it could be a good time to embark on a new challenge in his career, after many years with the English club, where he has won every possible title. He isn't entirely convinced by the project following Guardiola's departure, and for this reason, he has asked his agent, the controversial Jorge Mendes, to explore other options and offer his services to other teams. Real Madrid is among them.

Taking advantage of José Mourinho's arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu, the famous agent hopes to place his clients at the club, as he has done in the past
Imagine believing the Spanish media when it comes to Madrid
By that token, Haaland and Rodri are also going there as well

Maresca likes to play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 but in possession it can change to 3-2-4-1 or 3-1-3-3

To me that means we can play a 3 of say Khusanov, Guehi, Gvardiol plus a fullback that moves into midfield in possession. Not considering potential incomings, that could easily be NOR or RAN or Nunes depending on opposition.

After those 6 that potentially leaves

Ake (think he might be off but possibly one more year)
Dias (cover for Guehi is harsh but its how i see it)
Reis
Alleyne (not sure he's good enough)
Rico (not sure he's a defender)

How do we feel about Anthony Gordon? That was the winger Maresca wanted before leaving Chelsea. We are after a winger so I wouldn't be surprised.

If Maresca brings back Grealish I don’t know what to say. Even Pep couldn’t get the best out of him but Maresca somehow will? Yeah right

What have you heard mate?

Nothing just Anthony Gordon was the winger Maresca wanted before leaving Chelsea, we are after a winger so I wouldn't be surprised if Maresca still likes him. He was his first choice at Chelsea for a new winger was adamant to the Chelsea board he wanted him

Newcastle linked with Savinho as well is interesting?

I called for this ages ago, but I think its a done deal to bayern no?
Hed be ideal
English (helps with quota)
Plays both wings and fills in as striker
Works his bollocks off

Newcastle out pricing Bayern, Bayern don't want to pay 70 million. Newcastle value him at that

To give Maresca benefit of the doubt, I would imagine Grealish would come back in a squad depth role for final year of his deal. Cover for left wing/10 positions, general vibes guy. Then leave on a free. Would make more sense if we sell Savio too.

So Pep has gone, Haaland, Rodri, and Donna will probably follow him out next year, which gives the opportunity to grow or cry. so lets look at it long term, squad building the basics, in terms of value to the club first and in some cases price.
Club trained Trafford, plays in a position rules say you need 3, value £150 million, O Reilly, Foden, Alleyne, and Lewis, you need 4 so 1 will be taking up a foreign spot, why is Alleyne ahead, because he plays in a position that both O Reilly and Ait Nouri will be after more minutes and Gvadiol is just coming back from injury, plus he is better in that position than Lewis is in any position.
Association trained, Bettinelli, it is madness not to have one in the 3rd spot that you have to name, Anderson a big buy Semenyo, Branthwite a big buy that may get offset by Grealish, Guehi again a player that takes up a Foreign spot, which he is capable of at the moment, but Branthwaite is better than Guehi at everything.
That leaves the youth, preseason will show us who can make the step up, which is where our youth were robbed last season, but 1 we should buy is Dadason, when Shearer was getting bogged down Blackburn went out and bought Sutton, Sutton was never as good, but he allowed Shearer to play, Haaland is getting bogged down, and Dadason is cheap he does not take up a squad place.
Which leaves who is our Foreign signing? what if it is a swap deal Rodri plus cash for Valverde, now that would change our way of looking at our squad.

How doe Guehi take up a foreign spot and Branthwaite wouldn't? Plus no he isn't better at everything.Oh and Haaland probably won't be following him anywhere.

It is wrong to say Pep could not get the best out of Grealish, Pep chose to give Grealish`s position to Gundogan, understandable but when he went , he chose to give it to Kovacic, Grealish is not a winger, stop pulling down this fabulous player whose only fault is there were better players at City.

Doesn’t make sense in any capacity. We want to rebuild and we’re bringing back players that haven’t delivered in three years? May as well bring back Akanji.
