As for Mr Fletcher I have had occasion to ask for assistance from him twice and have found him to be courteous and helpful. I am not saying he hasn't been the opposite to others, I just speak as I find.

Neither.

That's how it was originally posted on the Swansea thread.

Never had the honour of meeting Mr Fletcher, but neither have most supporters. There are one or two senior officials at City who meet the fans on a regular basis. Mr Fletcher isn't one of them.

Considering how important his job is and the impact it has on the fans, it would be nice if Mr Fletcher started talking to the fans at OSC branch meetings and other such meetings, where he could put the clubs side across, but also listen to the fans and understand their concerns and frustrations.

As it is, he remains an enigma, and will do so until he begins an open dialogue with the fans.

Mr Fletcher did attend a meeting of Points of Blue that I was at and answered fans questions there and addressed a couple of the issues raised on these boards.

As I said I am only speaking as I find. I can appreciate that some fans on here have had negative experiences but mine have been positive and I am sure that there will be others who have also had a positive experience. After all there must be a reason that he has to say these things about standing etc. Other clubs have similar rules. He has to be seen to be doing everything he can to conform to the rules. Or else he would be out of a job.

Football is for standing up, shouting and singing your head off, bouncing and ballooning about, having a laugh, watching football while you get yourself get involved in the game. Standing creates a buzz around you and makes you all feel together as one.

84569 fans cram into Maine Road, all standing.

The Kippax Stand, 30000 people in one stand, the biggest and best stand in Europe. City are now still reknowned for this stand and it was knocked down nearly 20 years ago. Everyone wants to be part of it. People are skint, unemployment is high, yet Manchester crams into the Kippax because you have to be part of it.

"Football isn't for standing up, shouting and singing your head off, bouncing and ballooning about, having a laugh, watching football while you get yourself get involved in the game. Standing will not create a buzz around you and makes you all feel together as one anymore!"

"Sit down, shut up. Football is for families."

Then just as we get a bit of buzz back into football.

Just as we start to enjoy ourselves at City again, even though it's not even a tenth as much as it should be.

MCC, GMP and City tell us we can't do this!

Quite frankly it stinks! I almost wish I were German.

Join the South Stand, it's much better.
I've gone and stood over in the East/South Corner, and walked over to the South Stand. Even relocate for some cup games over there. It's okay when you're in it all, part of it. It does seem quite loud and at times bouncing.

But I see the bigger picture when I come away from it and go back to 105. I see and hear that even on your best and loudest days neither area are particularly loud or bouncing. I see that 1300 one side of the away fans and 1800 the other wide of the away fans is a proper lame effort. It's almost laughable. It honestly is, for me, a bit embarrassing. I don't mean to 'call' you guys or owt, but you're not worth being part of. I'd rather keep my fantastic view and until there is a vocal stand worth being part of I'll remain in that view. Plus if I just give in and go and join you guys anyway, I'd lose sight of the bigger picture, all my numerous letters to the club will be a waste of time. I'd just be giving in to the bores and giving them what they want.

It's the very worst thing about Manchester City Football Club.

Blackburn and Leeds both have vocal stands that hold 7000, Sheff Utd and Liverpool's hold 12000, Villa's Holt End holds 14500, hate them as we do the Stretford End at Old Traffird holds 18000+, Borussia Dortmund's die Südtribüne holds 24000 and The Kippax held 30000.

I don't get it! I thought we were aiming to be the best football club, not just team, but CLUB, in the world. 3000 seats set aside for vocal fans, now reduced as MCC GMP and City don't want 109 standing so are telling 110 to sit down. It's a fucking disgrace in my opinion!

It was 111 the standing bit, the rest won't complain in public as there are some right idiots.

Yes, 111 was the official and original designated singing block, but since moving to COMS blocks 111 and 110 have always stood. It's not as if 110 has just started standing last season. What happened last season was 109 started standing as well, and I'm guessing there have been some complaints from fans in that block.

I'm sure the vast majority of block 110 BM members will back me up when I say most, if not all of them, want to stand and sing.

No they were dead the first few seasons, then the club made 111 an official singing area.

It was never stood up, just a recent thing.

recent...i've been stood in 111 for 4 years now

-- Sat Aug 13, 2011 10:51 am --

The whole ground was f***ing dead. Then the singers started gathering in 111 and 110. Then more people started moving into those blocks and it has since spread to 109.

You're are flogging a dead horse Corky. Everybody knows block 110 has been a standing and singning block for ages. It's 109 where the problem is.

I/we don't know what Fletcher is playing at regarding 110.

Na the block 115/6/7/8 were the singers then the club started a singing area away from these.

The JCLs are 111 etc

what?

Right just got a text off a bloke that works under fletcher in the tv surveillance at the club.

1) he said Fletcher isn't a rag
2) Fletcher has been asked to send a letter out from GMP
3) standing will be tolerated in 110 but they don't want 109 standing again.

So JRB, I know you love a good old moan. But at least wait and see how the first game goes.

If they make 109 sit this season I'm gonna be cross as I've moved 15 yards to the right so my dad can sit down and, as such, moved away from everyone I know. And shady ;-)
Point 3 makes me feel a lot better.

Weird how I met that bloke. Was on holiday in Cuba in January and got talking to him as he watched the arse-Newcastle 4 all draw. The bloke is a Bolton fan but works in the control room with Fletcher. Got matey on holiday, swapped numbers and haven't contacted him since. So text him yesterday and he replied this morning. So fingers crossed it's the truth.

It's 109 and 119 the letter refers to and only the people in those blocks are getting letters!.
