So despite FFP and huge revenues some of the top football teams are getting their players to take pay cuts due to Corona virus.

Either they are wrong to do so and do not actually need to or football finances are still a mess despite FFP and huge revenues.

They are presumably claiming lost revenue due to Corona virus but have they actually lost revenue ? I mean the season is still supposed to be played eventually. They will probably have lost potential merchandise sales and will eventually loose ticket money but could actually get more money for more televised behind closed doors games.

I understand that football not especially profitable relative to its revenue but i would not have thought that Barca would have get their players to take 70% pay cut and help pay lesser paid staff.

How much profit did clubs make last year ?

How much of this is a cashflow issue ?

Do clubs get a lot of money up front ? If so should they not be ok for a month or two ?

Can they not secure lending on broadcast deals like we have in the past ?

Is there an opportunity for us with less debt to get cash strapped clubs into the CFG or buy the best players assuming Champions League ban is sorted ?

this virus has not worked well for the top clubs like united and the so called elite clubs in media rights image rights and shirts and other merchandise sales with the internet ? but that could be in the balance because of most fans bought up the new stuff pre-season and in the season so far. but if the season is cancelled with the virus will clubs offer refunds on shirts and other merchandise and season tickets ???

this could really hurt united and others in revenue if they have to give back the money paid to them for media rights image rights tv rights and also have to refund money on stuff like season tickets ?? why

well debt is a problem in FFP and making zero income and outgoings so high ? maybe the banks will start to panic and want there money back and they could ask for all clubs to clear their debts to boost the finical year losses. bank will be making and interest could rise to a level that will kill some clubs because of the payments are not fore coming in a time of crises debt is the first thing taken into account and asset will be sold

Follow up point how are players paid ? Is it monthly ? Is it spread through the year equally or reduced when they do not normally play ? The clubs should be have a lower costs due to reduced bonuses

I know for a fact one club is on the brink of folding over this. Clubs are shitting having to pay sky back money or not get monies promised. It doesn’t take much to figure out which one.

United also must be screwed as the Glazers are in a world of trouble with malls.
