The Roses should have owned the 90s just like Oasis did

They should still be killing it now

What a waste
Totally agree pal, tho spike island was shite just like ally pally was before it, their aura carried them through many shit live gigs, Blackpool mind was amazing! will always feel privileged to have been a “cool” 19yr old when that debut album smashed onto the scene & blew minds :)

Oasis stole their thunder. If they had released Ten Storey Love Song as the lead single rather than Love Spreads and got Second Coming out before Definitely Maybe, then the world might have been a different place. Oasis just seemed fresh compared to all the nonsense that was surrounding the Roses.
The Roses attitude was to tell the world to fuck off. Where as the Oasis attitude was 'Let's have it'

Bang on mate.

They was too laid back to be big time. They had the world in the palm of their hand but the couldn't really be arsed, then they all fell out and that was it.

I was more annoyed with them splitting up the 2nd time round. To come back with that pile of wank 'All for one' was an absolute anti climax. Maybe if they came back with 'Beautiful thing' they would have turned heads but nope they released that lukewarm shite.

But on the flipside I'm chuffed to fuck the all got paid out for their live shows. Their talent as a collective deserved some pound notes in their coffers.

100% Beautiful Thing is one of the best things they ever did,
Even though it reminds me of one of the worst weeks of my entire life but that's another story.

Didn't go to Blackpool or Spike Island but saw them at International II a few days after the first album came out, a boiling hot night and a totally triumphant gig.
Wish I'd gone nearer the front.
I remember when the first album came out - bought it on cassette in a woolworth's in Southsea and later that day saw them play South Parade Pier. Never dreamt how iconic they would turn out to be
