The Sun "newspaper"

One of the advantages of living in Liverpool (and there are many before you all jump in) is that most shops don't stock it.

Not that I would ever buy that children's comic. I honestly don't understand how anyone with a brain would pay money to read it.

Obviously when I say "read" I mean "Look at the pictures"
It gives you an idea of the mental state of the nation, this being one of the most popular daily toilet rolls.

-- Wed Feb 19, 2014 6:03 pm --

All very true. Other winners are those who have never bought that left-wing, bile-filled, infantile, made for the masses horseshit that is the Mirror.
Have a butchers at their back page.

Mirror/Sun/Mail/Express/Metro - each and every one of them shite. The Mail especially so as it masquerades as being somehow "high-brow" when, in fact, it's nothing but ill-informed, statistically inept, plagiarised from Nigel Farage's diary, ultra right-wing bollocks.
So which papers do you read? The ones mentioned must be read avidly, to formulate an opinion on their contents with such malevolence. So which are the dead good papers we all should read to ensure our thought processes are not polluted with reactionary filth?
Is it an obligation to read a daily newspaper these days? I personally haven't bought one for 25 years just for the record.

Has always been a right wing comic but the quality dipped significantly when Maria Whittaker hung up her bra for good

No, it most certainly isn't obligatory. But as this topic is about newspapers, I'd have thought commenting about what people think about their content may be of interest.
As you have not read one in 25 years, it seems a strange stance to take.
Just for the record, like you say.

If you owned a newspaper (the success of which you rely on to pay the bills, buy your season ticket etc) and you had the opportunity to maximise sales by toadying-up to an outfit which could give you (and your advertisers) an estimated global reach of 694m would you not do the same, ie toady-up whilst in parallel denigrate and belittle their closest rivals?

No issue with the Sun for me, or the broader Murdoch empire that blatantly reflects this policy. They are what they are and are up-front about it. It is so obvious it makes me laugh.

The thing I find incredible is any City fan giving them money by buying their shitty rag-loving products.

what a sensible comment do you think people buy the sun to be outraged and post on here? like the paper itself strange but true

The Mirror's back page "Best team on the Planet 0 - 2 Worst Barca team in years".
Oh well there's only the Daily Express left for me now.

The Mirror are cnuts. Taking one quote from a Spurs manager, and another from that spiteful bell end Mourinho, and both obviously well over the top, and cobbling them together to suggest that each statement was somehow representative of how we saw ourselves, plumbs new depths in sneering and pisstaking. As ever, no other English side has to put up with this kind of spiteful shit, and it's hard to fathom why we do.
Another absolute bitter bastard, who revels in big City defeats is The Sun's Steven Howard. Having rejoiced in a "victory for football" when the rags beat us in the Charity Shield, he came out with a similarly vindictive piece when Camelgob got a coin in his mush, and he can barely disguise the triumphant glee again today. I hate them all

Not read a paper, not worth the utter bollocks opinion they have. They are very clever because they seem to know how I felt leaving the stadium.....

Don't understand anyone that buys papers/clicks their website these days.

The tabloids like the Sun and Daily Mail are particularly worse, but even the Guardian, Times and Telegraph are terrible that sensationalise and misinform.

The Leveson enquiry exposed them all as none of the editors could defend the shit contained within them.

Plus they're all pro-rag and anti-City for economic reasons, so fuck them.

To be honest there are worse comments in the Martin Demichelis thread than what is on the back of the Sun.

The front page is far far worse too. Disgusting.

If I was still a mod and most of you would never remember when I was, but I would have deleted this thread as I would not give that moronic shite supposed newspaper the time of day on here.

I think the Mirror is actually worse. How many things has this prick got wrong ?

Even from my point of view, that Mirror headline is nothing short of ridiculous. Usually I can see an angle in these things, not take it to heart like most do, but that is out and out taking the piss.

falls off chair.

The Sun will be ripping into Arse and Szechny tomorrow just as they did today with us and Mick.......won't they?

If they don't and you need your fix put Talk sport on at 4 o clock.....
