The thread in which Bluemooners reveal tenuous links to famous people.

Played cricket with Derek Jefferies for a few seasons. Top bloke and pretty classy left handed opening bat.

Went to school with Nicky Butt...and Nutmegged him in a school yard game before hitting a screamer into the top corner from 20 yards (imaginary top corner as it was jumpers for goal posts...but everyone agreed it was in).

Met Robbie Williams in Calgary when he was at his fame peak and spoke to him on the street about what he was up to (shooting a video with Darryl Hannah) and about City, for about 10 minutes. Nobody in Calgary knew him. Back when he'd just played for Port Vale against City in a friendly. Invited him to play 5 a side with us that night, and he said he was busy that day, but would have played the day before (he was genuine, and clearly gutted he couldn't play). Day after, found out he'd just signed an £80M contract with Sony that day. Decent guy to be fair and loves his football.

I once shared a rehabilitation pool with John Sheridan and Simon Sturridge (Daniel's uncle).

I had ruptured my ACL playing football and was doing rehab at the Beaumont Hospital in Bolton. The three of us were in the pool with the physio and he asked us whether we were right or left footed. One of them said right, one of them said left, I said "both" which seemed to amuse them.

I've met Carly Simon, and she told who You're So Vain was about.
I've met Don McLean, and he went through every line of American Pie and told me what it all meant.
I play at the same golf club, and have played a few times with Sky Sports Rugby League commentator Eddie Hemmings. He's a good bloke. I've also met his old sidekick Mike "Stevo" Stephenson. He was a twunt.

Two of these statements are an absolute tissue of lies. Can you guess which?

The daughter of a friend of mine went on a school exchange trip to the USA. She stayed with an American student whose parents were Carly Simon and James Taylor.
