Astounding isn't it, a man that once refused to play because he was named on the wing.

we could do with a firestarter in the dressing room. it is slightly worrying that Hughes is going back to players he knows are loyal to him. I worry that he is only interested in bolstering his position in the short term.

In March 2004, he threw a chair at then-first-team coach John Carver.

After Bobby Robson's departure in August 2004, Bellamy had a very public falling-out with his replacement as Newcastle manager, Graeme Souness. On January 23, 2005, Bellamy was omitted from the team for a Premiership match with Arsenal. Before the match, Souness said that Bellamy had a hamstring problem, but contradicted himself in a post-match interview, claiming that Bellamy was benched for being unwilling to play as a right-sided midfielder.

Minutes later, Bellamy gave an interview of his own saying that he was prepared to play in any position. He admitted that he had threatened to fake injury ahead of the Arsenal match, and in a later interview accused Souness of lying about him. Souness responded by stating that Bellamy would never play in a Newcastle United shirt, whilst he was manager and consequently the club fined Bellamy two weeks' wages (about £80,000).

Craig Bellamy made himself further unwelcome at St James' Park when some abusive text messages were sent from his phone to club captain Alan Shearer after Newcastle's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United. At the time, Shearer was with the Newcastle squad in Ireland for Jackie McNamara's testimonial golf day. Bellamy's agent has insisted his mobile had been lost at the time and he was not responsible for the texts. Kenneth Shepherd, son of Newcastle chairman Freddy, also received gloating text messages. Shearer is alleged to have threatened to "knock his block off" if Craig Bellamy returned to Newcastle United.

Bellamy finally made an impact against Wigan Athletic, inspiring Liverpool to a 4-0 victory with two goals and one assist. It was his first game after being cleared of supposedly assaulting a woman in a Cardiff bar.

In February 2007 it was alleged that Bellamy attacked team mate John Arne Riise with a golf club during a team training session in Portugal. Both players were fined two weeks pay by the team. The incident earned him the nickname "The Nutter with the Putter".

Bellamy announced to football results television programme "Wales on Saturday" on April 28, 2007 that he would leave Liverpool in the summer 2007 transfer window. His given reasons were lack of communication with Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez and conflicting opinions on how Bellamy should be utilised in a match.

Was once left hung up on a coathook by his teammates at Norwich for being a gobby twat.

Whilst i accept Bellamy has many problems, infact many many, he is direct, he is arrogant and he has a winning mentality. It will be interesting to see how he assimilates into the side. It is a gamble, but i trust Hughes and he fits the mould of a Hughes player - full-on, committed and he is certainly someone you would want on your side in a scrap.

Its worth the risk for me, bet the players can't wait for the meet and greet at Carrington. Knowing Hughes, he'll appoint him captain!

I also think RSC will outperform our expectations, i think he is a decent old-fashioned centre-forward!, and just imagine the chances he will get once SWP and a fully-fit Petrov start supplying from out wide. I'm optimistic about this pairing.

Its the aptitude and commitment that Hughes wants to bring into the club. The more he gets in with the hard work ethic, the more it spreads thoughout the rest of the club. He is weeding out the lazy fookers and changing the mindset of all the rest. He is showing that if you give 100% in training and in games, whether or not you are on form, he will stand by you and give you a crack at turning things around.

It has to be the given the time to take effect. Where he can push on from what he acheived at Blackburn is once he has the right mentality of the squad, he can go out and buy the top notch players to slowly improve us to the level where we can compete with the top4-5 teams in the prem. We are far from it at the moment, and it will take a few years to get the right winning mentality running throughout the whole club, supporters and all.

Yes he will see we are deficient technically in certain areas, and he will address that because he has the wherefores to do it, but it has to be done in his vision, and at the right pace. The owners must be privvy to this plan, otherwise he may well be down the job centre already.

He knows he can get the much needed requirements out of the likes of RSC and Bellamy to be a stepping stone to world domination. Lets give the guy a fair crack at the helm.
