The Titanic

Because it's dead easy to paint a bullseye around an arrow once you have found where it landed in the woods.

It's amazing how many experts/competitors to this company knew it was going to fail yet we only here about their concerns after the event.

I'm not saying that the sub was safe, I haven't a fucking clue. But if the industry was as dead against this company, then why wait for deaths to suddenly say I knew this was going to happen.
Because theres actually nothing that anyone can do to stop someone setting up shop and operating a business like this. Its not regulated or covered by any legislation.

The whole industry has been trying to stop this for years, they fired the Dir of Marine Ops on the spot because he questioned the testing regime. The court papers are online to read.

There really is no hindsight engineering going on, its played out exactly like many experts feared it would.

The CEO threatened people with legal action so in the end they were left to it but its basically verging on criminally negligent whats happened. If the CEO had survived he'd no doubt be the subject of proceedings. The company is fucked. They won't get away with the waivers if it can be proved that they were negligent with the design and testing of the thing and held back information from potential customers, which they clearly did. I'd expect them to be filing for Ch 11 protection next week.

Looking at some of the stuff about text messages to people hawking seats on the trip at discount prices suggests that they were pretty desperate to get the money in.

Basically the CEO has been hoist with his own patard, given some of his nonsense tech bro bully boy antics its hard to have sympathy for him, my sympathy is with his family and the paying punters & families that really had no understanding of what they were getting into.

Was it not oh my bad, maybe throw a couple of left leaning liars in there next time just for balance
if you read it properly... it is about the "all life is equal/sacred - rich or poor etc" posts, highlighted for humbug - it's not too sophisticated, really - and yes it was your bad. But just for you... Derek Hatton, Tony Blair, Anthony Neil Wedgwood Benn and is inheritance tax dodge scheme, Sadiq Khan, Ben Elton and Arthur fucking Scargill. Happy now?

There’s a guy called Rob McCallum who is high up in this industry, who sent emails to the CEO of OceanGate expressing his concerns back in 2018.

Like most yank outfits it's all about profits.

I've sent emails to the Glazers for years telling them that the rags are shite. Thankfully, they did nothing about it.

I'm glad they haven't launched themselves into certain death under water or out into space though. Lets hope the shitshow continues over there for ever.

What I don’t understand is that if he wasn’t following international maritime regulations then how was his company even allowed to operate? If, for example, a factory doesn’t comply with health and safety standards then chances are that it will be closed until such a time as it does, yet this fucker was allowed to send people thousands of metres down to the ocean floor.
in a nutshell - international waters

Last week, more 500 people fleeing war and famine drowned when their vessel capsized off the coast of Greece. I hardly saw it mentioned. This week, in just two days, I counted 18 headline stories in just one paper about the submarine incident. Both are tragedies, but we value some lives differently than others, clearly.
Read loads of messages, posts and whatever similar to this!
2 totally different scenario's and the submersible story was bigger because there was hope they could be saved, nothing more!

Not sure it even made the front page. Let's not kid ourselves no one gives a fuck about 300 Pakistanis and 200+ other nationalities so why would the written press keep running with the story. In reality some folk do give a fuck and it's depressing that it gets a mere mention. A cruise ship with 500 yanks that sinks with everyone on board drowning would be headline news for Two weeks every minute of the day.

Phil and Holly got more coverage than the Titanic disaster, you're expecting way too much from the media.
