Liverpool still has 54 points to play for. If we win 10 of the remaining 16 matches we have, we will be at 86 points. I believe it will be enough to win the league.

Honestly I don't see us dropping much points but anything can happen.

Only 6 left to play in the current top 10…4 of which are at home.
Could well be another 100pts season.

I think we have a real chance of getting 100 points again.

We can get 104, so we could lose 1 or draw 2.

Wouldn't say it's "likely" but it's doable. 16 games left.
2017-18 was a perfect storm in that we got to early April, had the title sewn up but were out of both the CL and FA Cup. There was nothing to stop us from relentlessly going all out in our remaining league games to set new records.
Pep won't admit it but if we're virtually guaranteed to win the league and are still in the CL, he'll take his foot off the gas and rest players for the semi-finals at end of April/beginning of May and (should we get through that) for the final. It happened last season and it's only human nature. So unless we've no other objective(s), I can't see 100 points again.

Great way of looking at it. I've seen it laid out that way but not with the current required amount to win. Excellent.

To call the title race over with 17 matches to go and a potential 8 point lead would be very Raggish.

I seem to recall a situation a decade back when a local side had an 8 point lead with 6 matches to go and still lost it. They also blew a big lead in 1967-68.

I know that Liverpool fans would be getting the 2021-22 League Championship t-shirts printed already as per 2013-14.

There is a long way to go before any title race can be called.
Whilst I get your point, this City side is several levels above that United side of 11/12.

I’ve not seen anything since Pep arrived to suggest we would cough up a near double digit lead.

Doable but unlikely, I think Peps biggest challenge this year is to try and sustain the form going into May, momentum got us to the CL final but our performances weren’t great in the league from March on…

Context needs to be highlighted also, to replicate, almost like a mirror image of last year, is insane levels of consistency, if we manage to go all the way in CL, this will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest club sides of all time, that should sink in for some people!
I'd argue that from March on we had different priorities - this season will likely play out in a similar fashion tbh.
Peps plan is always to tie up the league early, then turn attention to another comp. Not sure it's worked out how we'd all hoped so far - but that's knock out football unfortunately

If we beat scouse, I think 83 points might win it

So 9 more wins from the remaining 16 matches as long as one of them is against cult fc

In the league the points total just needs to be enough to ensure it's not a contest from here on in. The team needs to pace itself so that it can at the least win the League and Champions League. They need success that tangibly supports their claim to greatness.

I think the League is nearly done, but without trying to sound greedy I want us to win the CL this year. However, like yourself I have some concerns about maintaining form/momentum going into late April/May in the later stages of the CL. This team and coach deserve to be crowned Champions of Europe.

87 should be enough.

Looking at our reminding fixtures we only play 5 teams currently in the top half of the table

Spurs(H)
Rags(H)
Liverpool (H)
Wolves(A)
West Ham (A)

The rest (11 games) are all sides mid table or lower. Us getting though that period of playing top 5 sides between September and December unscathed has been key.

Fortunately, there's an important difference between last and this season's fixture schedule.

Last season there was no winter break, plus we reached the final of the league cup. The team peaked in February and by April there were signs some players were losing form, most notably Rodri and Cancelo, but also Gundogan, Bernardo...

This season we are many points clear already in January, will have a winter break and are out of the league cup. Pep and the players will be better positioned to be in top form in April and May.

85 pts are likely to be enough for the league title. IF we secure the title early, Pep will rotate a lot in the final months and we are likely to drop points, so we'll probably manage to win around 92 pts.

One reason we may drop points is that we don't have many midfielders. Imagine Pep decides to rest the likes of Rodri, Bernardo, KDB, Foden... before crucial cup games. We'll field significantly weakened teams in midfield in the final weeks of the PL, IF we are still in the CL and the FA Cup. So, we are quite unlikely to win 95+ pts, imo.

Assuming there are no postponed fixtures, if we keep winning (big if) we will have the chance to equal the premier league record for consecutive wins (18 currently) in the derby.

We are currently at 12 wins

Southampton, Brentford, Norwich, Spurs and Everton are in the way.

Palace away to get 19.
