How many points will be needed to win the league?

We are at the stage when a bad week can end your season. There will be one year where we mess it up so nothing is won until it's won. We've not beat Chelsea all year, Madrid have players that can hurt us and Tottenham at WHL is not a winner.

But having said that it looks like Liverpool are suffering from Kloppsteria and Arsenal again don't seem to have the balls. I think there is a small window of opportunity where you need to go beyond a challenge and win a league. I reckon you get 3 or 4 title challenges and if you've not one won in that time you have to change something - Liverpool did it with Allison and Van Dijk. I just don't see who Arsenal being in to make that difference - they'd have been hoping Zinchenko and Jesus did it last year but it hasn't worked for them. They don't have obvious deficiencies except maybe a big goal scorer.

Liverpool are an unknown when Klopp leaves. He's the best at what he does so a culture change is going to happen and that can be painful. I'm hoping for United vibes.

City may lose Silva this summer but the squad is in very good shape age wise for us to go again next year. It's unbelievable how hungry this squad of players is. Counting all my chickens but my big wish for this season is a match winning performance from KdB in the Champs League final - he deserves that after 2 heartbreaking finals for him (if you can count a win as heart breaking)

a fabulous weekend in the title hunt, one i absolutely did not expect!!

if, by the Brighton game, we're some how still top then i'll start to get confident, but for now i am assuming more twists and turns and surely they'll both pick up 3+ points in their next 2 games? but, there are plenty of seeds of doubt around now.... which is great for us.

i'm still of the belief we have one more league defeat in us. No decent logic to that, and i'm looking at you spurs, it's just something i cant seem to shake.

Good post. I watched a bit of Arsenal Fan TV after their loss to Villa and the sense of defeatism was rife. Only the main guy Robbie seemed to have any hope - the rest were a bunch of cowardly conceders. If our players down the years had that attitude we would still be a Championship club.
I stayed to the end against Gillingham and was rewarded - learnt a big lesson that day as did many other City fans.
Robbie loves it when Arsenal lose.

I was a bit euphoric when I got in last night and saw the results, and posted accordingly. I can be forgiven for that, I trust.

Soberly, we're in a good place. The players now see exactly what they have to do. That is the most restrained way that I can put it. Will they do it? Maybe, maybe not.
For a number of weeks now I've been saying that we would be pipped for the PL title, but surprise everyone by doing a second CL title. I'm not so sure, now (and I don't want to jinx Wednesday night, which will not be a cakewalk, because those buggers know how to win even when they're clearly outplayed, as we saw so painfully two seasons back).
Whatever happens — and I'll say this even if we end up with nothing in our hands — it's been a hell of a season. To even be at this point, and to have clearly not been at our best, is kind of monstrous.

(Treble? Sssshhhh…)

They both play twice before we play Brighton. If we’re still top when we play Brighton then it’s pretty much done and dusted!
