How many points to win the league?

This is the counter we had at the end, and this is where the ball was when the referee blew for full time.
For what it’s worth, play was stopped for at least 1 minute in injury time, so the time should have been added as well.

I don't disagree about the injury time in injury time, but you need to watch again for the whistle. That screenshot is a good four seconds after he blew. In that picture, the player free in the centre, Callum Wilson was alongside Van Dijk when the whistle blew, and both stopped - along with nearly everyone else on the pitch. He then gets a bit confused as clearly the players on the far side hadn't heard the whistle, so begins a half-hearted little jog which moves him away into space.

It looks a much better opportunity, because most players heard the whistle, and stopped running.

That's shocking. That's what an extra 15 seconds at most, to let that play out one way or the other. Crazy.

Just
one
game
at
a time.

Let the challengers to the 'Four in a row' Champions get giddy and excited .

75 points to play for !!

I said we wouldn’t win the league this season because our midfield isn’t good enough, but Grealish felt like a brand new signing in midfield tonight. Get Bobb fit, De Bruyne fit, Foden well again and someone like Zubamendi in January and you never know.

It’s all a big ‘if’ though. ‘If’they stay fit, ‘if’ they can get well, ‘if’ we make the signing.

Even then, none of the buggers in defence can stay fit. It feels like they get injured getting out of bed our lads at the back.
If all that happened id agree BUT.....
KDB as good as he is isnt the player he was - he looks physically done..yes some of that will be down to fitness levels after another long lay off but he aint moving right, doesnt have that drive through the middle he used to have either...yes he can still create and he will but he aint at that very top level any more.

Bobb lookde amazing pre season but its been a long lay off - he is young so may bounce back quickly but a lot of pressure for a young inexperienced player

Not sure what is going on with Foden- heard it could be long term illlness but also heard it might be off field matters......could all be rumours nd bullshit thought

The signing is key but it will take time for that player to bed it....

too many ifs and buts to me but on the other hand we have Pep so you just never know

It's by no means over but it does rely on our opponents slipping up while we win pretty much every game. I hope it happens but it's not while I'd call likely at the moment.

Agrered, but I'd say the more relevant takeaway from those three seasons, is that Arsenal dropped 8 pts in 3 games, United 8 pts across 4 games, and Liverpool 8pts in a 6 game stretch. And all those seasons had more games left than we have today.

Things change, and they can do so very quickly. It's as common for a team to have a bad couple of weeks, and lose a lead, that it is for them to get one and hold on to it easily.

I think it also helps that Chelsea and Arsenal are looking good - and the pics I posted apply just as much to their chances this season.
It makes the 3 points we got at Stamford Bridge on day 1 even more valuable, now that Chelsea have improved so much. If we can get a run going again from this point, anything's still possible.

One game at a time boys; one game at a time.

Looking at the table this morning I quite like the fact that Brighton, Forest and Fulham are up there, I doubt any of them will finish top 4 but it's getting more competitive and it really is true that on a given day any team can beat any other team.

I think Saturday is a big day for Liverpool. If they drop points it does blow the whole thing open again. That said, I think Arsenal and Chelsea are better placed to take advantage of it.

It's very reassuring that I think the worst is over for our run and we are still fourth.

You're right, the more teams challenging at the top end is more enjoyable. It's going to be tough for us but if we can find some rhythm and those teams start taking points off the top 3, it's going to get a lot more interesting.
