Hopefully Chelsea bottle it
Chelsea could finish 7th and it make no difference to us due to the form of Newcastle and Villa.

This last run of games we’ve got are massive. City v Villa could be, in many ways, the biggest game we’ve played for years. Obviously, not in terms of winning a trophy or making history like we’ve done over the previous 8 years or previous 14 years, but more with it being huge for our future, getting into the CL and the difference that will make on who we can attract as new signings to keep us challenging up at the top for the next 5+ years.

The worry I’ve got is that the team are playing with no urgency or intensity and like they don’t understand how big this run of games are. Dias and Gvardiol seem to, Khusanov when he plays, even Nunes… but everyone else look like they’re going through the motions and, because it’s not about winning trophies and making history, it’s all very laidback.

With Liverpool’s ageing players needing replacing, Arsenal still needing gaps plugging and Newcastle’s potential… if we don’t get into the CL this season, not only won’t we be arguably the #1 destination anymore in Europe, you could argue we’d be about 5th in England, especially if United or Spurs win the Europa League and get into the CL and we don’t.

Bored at work so looked at how many pts 4th/5th/6th accrued in the past 3 seasons - see below

23/24
4 Villa – 68pts
5 Spurs – 66pts
6 Chels – 63pts

22/23
4 Newc – 71pts
5 Liverpool – 67pts
6 Brighton – 62pts

21/22
4 Spurs – 71pts
5 Ars – 69pts
6 Utd – 58pts

Even with my basic maths, Id say we need to win all 4 homes (a big ask tbh) and at Southampton which would somehow see us to 67pts. That would see us pretty close - the trick is actually doing it. Villa at Home looks a huge game.

And if we don't make it we simply won't have deserved it. We've been horrible to watch not one player has stood out of having a good season, it's been a total collective drop off including Pep. I honestly can't call as to which of these final games we'll win

Gvardiol has had a cracking season to be fair to him. He struggled a bit in November and December but he was leading the line at the back at 22 years old with a back 6 of Ortega-Moreno, Lewis, Walker, Simpson-Pusey and Kovačić alongside him at times.

Stones and Aké have played well every time they play n’all (we’d be about 9th without Stones’ injury time winner at Wolves and equaliser against Arsenal)… they’re just made of balsa wood.

And apart from the first five minutes of his debut, Khusanov has been class.

On paper, all winnable games. Unfortunately, we play on grass. Any team that runs at us will cause us serious problems

Palace H 1 point
Everton A 1 point
Villa H 0 points
Wolves H 3 points
Southampton A 1 point
Bournemouth H 1 point
Fulham A 0 points

52 + 7 = 59 points

Just about what we deserve season.
Thank fuck you aren't the team captain and don't do the team talk.

Palace wrong. Forget the rest of your predictions.
