we would be in deep shit if we didnt have that bit unexpected decent run at the start.

it is just brutal to see this is how the table looked before our downfall started with the Carabao loss vs Tottenham, top of the league, only unbeaten side this is 1st of November.

who thought at that point even with Rodri being off from the 22nd of September, that its gonna take a turn like this?
23 points from 27 in first 9 games.
18 points from 45 from the next 15 games. same as fucking rags lol

Having seen the fixtures over the next 6 weeks, I’m less confident!! 5th possibly getting a CL place may save our bacon. Huge 6 pointer against Newcastle coming up!! Newcastle did us a huge favour getting beat this weekend….

Not just that.. we've a WORSE DEFENSE than the rags.

If you thought that lot were shite.. look at our goals against vs theirs. We've given up more!

We’ve become a lazy team.
We no longer do the fundamentals of a Pep team.
We play out from the back and the midfield no longer shows for the defence, no longer gives them options.
Most of them are static.
Straight away we’re under pressure.
Khusanov is the prime example of that.
We hung him out to dry giving him no options.
If it wasn’t for Bernardo coming deep and taking the pressure off things could’ve gotten a lot worse for him.
We used to play out from the back with pace and purpose.
We’d have Fernandinho, Gundogan or Rodri who would drop deep to receive the ball, the fullbacks would go wide and the midfield would move to find space.
We don’t do that anymore.
It’s the same when we’re in possession in midfield, slow, next to no movement, static players that usually results in us making stupid passes trying to pick them out, either that or we play it sideways or backwards.
Without the ball we used press 3 or 4 players at a time, not just the player with the ball but close off their options too.
Our press and shape is lazy and half arsed.
Then there’s the stupid goals we concede.
We’ve always conceded stupid goals but in the past the first thing we’d do is grab the ball and go up the other end and do everything we could to get another goal, we’d apply pressure and force the mistake or force the goal.
The first thing we do now when the ball hits the net is drop our heads and feel sorry for ourselves.
There’s no fight and no pride.
There’s no fight to defend.
There’s no fight win the ball back.
There’s no fight to get the goals.
There’s no fight to support their teammates.
Haaland yesterday was getting mugged off by arsenal players and fans.
What did we do?
We did nothing, we just let it happen.
We have become soft and lazy.
We’ve been here before and thankfully the 115 seemed to galvanise the team and give them a much needed kick up the arse.
Sadly this season nothing is firing them up.
We’re getting teams embarrassing us and taking the piss and we’re just taking it.
We are also outworked by every team we face.
There’s no quick fix to this unfortunately, Pep’s tactics will stay the same, the same tactics that have won us everything in football.
Players need to leave cos they’re too old, too injury prone or just not good enough.
Who’s to blame?
Pep?
The players?
The board?
Maybe all 3 in some ways.
Honestly I don’t care who’s to blame but it needs sorting and quick cos what I’m seeing just isn’t acceptable.
Top 4 (5)?
We’ll be lucky, very lucky.
As someone pointed out earlier in the thread, without the start we had we’d seriously be in the shit.

The kind fixture list at the start gave us false hope, and even then we weren’t convincing, since then we have gone off Niagra falls in a barrel with no handbrake

Hit the nail on the head . We are soft as shit

Just noticed we have an identical record so far as Newcastle, points, wins etc..all the same.
Just shows the difference in expectations doesn't it? The barcodes are getting patted on the back and being told they're doing well and on the other hand it's all doom and gloom for City (even on here). I still think top 4 is more than realistic, anything more or a good run in the CL / FA Cup is a bonus

Disappointing result, but thanks to Newcastle, Bournemouth and Villa losing it was a bit of a free hit and shows that we're still very much in this fight. It's likely that top 5 will be enough for CL football, but we've got to improve substantially to get there.

14 games to go...

Newcastle, Dippers, Brighton, Leicester, Palace, Villa, Wolves, Bournemouth at home.

Spurs, Forest, Rags, Everton, Southampton, Fulham away.

Got to make the most of our home games. As fans we're not going to stand for performances like yesterday and I hold out hope we can get the results we need.

Arsenal away wasn’t a game we expected anything from anyway so from a top 4 perspective nothing’s changed

The worst result this weekend is not the loss at the emirates it’s the loss in the transfer window as it draws to a close.

We’ve splurged over £100m on unnecessary players who don’t address the problems we face. A couple of centre backs who nobody’s heard of and who aren’t ready yet, if they’ll ever be, and another attacking midfielder who may or may not be a bit lightweight.

No right back, no left back, no DM

Bizarre

next 4 for top4 rivals:

City: Newcastle home, Liverpool home, Spurs away, Forest away ( not many wins sadly maybe only one, I am optimistic with 5 points here)
Forest: Fulham away, Newcastle away, Arsenal home, City home (4-5 points at best imo from 12)
Chelsea: Brighton away, Villa away, Soton home, Leicester home (anything between 7-10 points)
Bournemouth: Soton away, Wolves home, Brighton away, Spurs away (6-7 points imo from 12)
Villa: Ipswich home, Chelsea home, Palace away, Brentford away (anything between 6-8 from 12)
Newcastle: City away, Forest home, Liverpool away, West ham home (anything between 4-6 points?)

so overall not too bad rivals have quite some hard runs as well not as hard as ours none of them doing max points surely to capitalize big time on our expected bad results in these 4 games.
still all of them can

makes it worse that none of them have any games in those slots where we have the two Real Madrid games so extra tiredness for us to navigate through.

if we are really bad in these 4 games (like no wins and basically 2 points or less from 12) it will be enough for them to push us down to 8th temporarily.
if we don anything like 6-7 points then we will be kind of where we are now which is not bad given our schedule is lot easier for the last 10 games and even harder games are left as home fixtures except the derby.

Never seen our defense so uncomfortable on the ball, like playing pass the parcel with a hand-grenade
