yes these young players coming in are exciting....If we could fast forward 1 year, City might have a spectacular squad. We have been focusing on the struggles of an ageing and injured squad. But in the pipeline are a number of young players who are the best in their age group. I think a few City fans have watched Echeverri at the U20s and every single one will be trying to contain their excitement. Better days lie ahead
however over the summer we have what is potentially the biggest overhaul since HRH took over that is needed.
Replacing KDB doesnt get any bigger - it needs to happen - we cant afford to have blue tinted specs about him any longer
Same with Gundo and potentially Bernardo (he still has the legs but does he want to be here?)
Kovacic needs to go as well - thats our whole core of our midfield excluding Rodri (who we dont know whether he will return the same player or not either!)
We also need to replace Walker - due to his downturn this leat year I think some have forgetton how valuable he was to our back 4 before that.
We also need a replacement for at least one of Ake or Stones as you cant carry two injury prone players in the back line.
thats four or 5 players that are needed to be immediate first team level replacements for those others...
Marmoush has shown glimpses that he could be a a first team regular, Nico is an unknown (we will find out over the next few months).....the two young defenders, esp Reis are not ready to be regulars...Ecehvari is as of yet an unknown (he could be a world beater but he doesnt solve the real issues however)
Let Gundo, KDB, Rico Kova all leave - they are either done at the very top level or arent good enough
Stones and Ake are big issues - can either of them truly prove that they can stay fit for long periods of time....i seriously have doubts about both of them (not quality wise - just reliability wise.
