Perhaps not the right thread, but next season I see the Dippers doing similar to what we've done this season and the title race going to the last day.

Come on you've watched us long enough to know
Even under pep we still throw odd results in more so with spurs n rags
Every team does that mate! Not sure anyone can deploy that term anymore and it mean anything. Not least because of all the times (Charlton, Bradford, Gillingham, Blackburn) when we needed to deliver when it mattered and we did. Hence why I asked the question.

I’m not convinced ‘typical City’ was ever a thing, and it’s certainly not now imo.

Typical City would be going there, having 75% possession and winning 3-0! :-)

Whats the best result for us in Newcastle - Chelsea game?
Probably a draw.
Forest win tomorrow and the 3 teams will be level on points.
Its getting very close and too tight to call.
I didn't foresee arsenal or Newcastle dropping points this weekend

97.69% got CL top 5 and finishing third. Probably need 4 points from 9

Prefer City min of 5 points or even better 2 wins taking us from 64 to 70
Villa win remaining 3 against Bournemouth and shit Utd and Spurs moving from 60 to 69.
Forest win next 3 and draw final game against Chelsea moving from 60 to 70.
Newcastle draw against Chelsea, beat Arsenal beat Everton moving from 63 to 70.
Chelsea draw against Newcastle, beat United, draw against Forest moving from 63 to 68 points.
Arsenal lose next 2 against Liverpool and Newcastle and cant handle pressure to draw at Saints so 67 to 68.

Table
Liverpool - 89
City - 70
Newcastle - 70
Forest - 70
Villa - 69
-------------
Arsenal - 68
Chelsea - 68

Obviously this won't happen but just 4 points from 9 for City could easily not be enough.

Oh that would be wonderful

Newcastle win I think, although they’re both on the same points now so not sure it matters? Newcastle then have to go to Arsenal.
By the time Newcastle go to Arsenal the mentally weak Gunners may very well have lost 4 on the bounce.

Arteta’s over emotional schtick will be drawing criticism in the wake of another season without a trophy and their daft fans could turn on them with a vengeance.

In such a scenario the fragile North Londoners could implode against a dangerous team like Newcastle.

If my sums are right, we can actually mathematically seal 5th place next weekend, can't we? If other results go our way as well.

We're currently on 64 points, with a maximum of 73 available to us.

If Palace beat Forest, that means the maximum amount of points Forest can reach is 69.

If Newcastle beat Chelsea, the maximum amount of points Chelsea can reach is also 69.

If Villa drop points at Bournemouth, the maximum amount of points Villa can reach is 67 (or 66 if they lose).

If we beat Southampton, we go onto 67 points, with a vastly superior goal difference to Villa.

And Forest and Chelsea play each other on the final day, which means one of them can only finish on 66.

Not happy watching LFC today - did Salah have a few quid on CFC for the win? He was utter dogshit.

Still, assuming we beat Southampton next, Villa will go to Bournemouth on Saturday evening needing a win to have any realistic chance of catching us. That and CFC playing NUFC and Forest should make us all feel pretty confident.

I've said since before the derby draw when people were insisting a win was required, Win our home games and beat southampton and we'll be golden. At least 1 of newcastle and chelsea have to drop points next weekend, at least 1 of newcastle and Arsenal have to drop points the week after and at least 1 of forest and Chelsea have to drop points on the final game. We should have it sewn up and guaranteed before we play fulham.
