The home game against Bournemouth will obviously be a tricky fixture, they are a decent fast attacking side, and add that to it being 3 days after the cup final & the inevitable hysteria about it being Kev’s farewell, then it’s all set up for us to drop a bollock that night.

Hopefully getting a win at Southampton and the other fixtures going our way will take the pressure off.

I've said since before the derby draw when people were insisting a win was required, Win our home games and beat southampton and we'll be golden. At least 1 of newcastle and chelsea have to drop points next weekend, at least 1 of newcastle and Arsenal have to drop points the week after and at least 1 of forest and Chelsea have to drop points on the final game. We should have it sewn up and guaranteed before we play fulham.

Southampton at ours kept the ball very well we only won 1-0 and away at Southampton we rarely win by a lot of goals it be tight game..

If my sums are right, we can actually mathematically seal 5th place next weekend, can't we? If other results go our way as well.

We're currently on 64 points, with a maximum of 73 available to us.

If Palace beat Forest, that means the maximum amount of points Forest can reach is 69.

If Newcastle beat Chelsea, the maximum amount of points Chelsea can reach is also 69.

If Villa drop points at Bournemouth, the maximum amount of points Villa can reach is 67 (or 66 if they lose).

If we beat Southampton, we go onto 67 points, with a vastly superior goal difference to Villa.

And Forest and Chelsea play each other on the final day, which means one of them can only finish on 66.

I loved stats

You know the rules in this type of thread ninja … every game is a must win game for us as it’s unforeseeable that our rivals will drop any points in their remaining fixtures

It's like people still think we are in a high level title race where 14 game win streaks become common. We're in the mix at a much lower level this year and as such, our standard and indeed our direct rivals standards are not the same. If they were all going to win their last 8 games we wouldn't all be trailing a mediocre champion by a mile in the dippers

Southampton at ours kept the ball very well we only won 1-0 and away at Southampton we rarely win by a lot of goals it be tight game..
They're currently the joint worst side the league has ever had and have 3 games (2 at home to us and arsenal and one away to everton) to find a point to prevent that. If we can't secure 3 points there when we need it then we simply don't deserve to be competing in the champions league.

The key result now after Liverpool lying down today is Forest to lose tomorrow. It would be nice to get a bit of breathing space below us.
Forest were pretty poor against Brentford and I think they will lose against Palace.

Hang on I've just been told typical city never existed ;)

We just need to concentrate on ourselves and deliver the goods at Southampton on Saturday. If we can win that one, we'll be preparing for the Cup final knowing we're at least four points clear of Villa and either four clear of one of Chelsea and Newcastle or three clear of them both.

It's not a foregone conclusion. However, Newcastle, Chelsea, Forest and Villa would all love to be in our position and with our remaining fixtures.

Liverpool
City
Newcastle
Arse
Forest.

(In that order)

Would be a lovely end to the season :)
