Tonight is a massive game in terms of giving a bit of leeway for us, if Forest lose. But I suppose ifs don’t matter when they’re out of our hands.

Like Petrusha says, we just do our business and we qualify.

I’m now actually looking up rather than down. I want second!

It clearly means more....to keep interest in the top 5 rather than go and beat an average Chelsea team.
Hilarious how nobody has even spoken about their title this season bar themselves. Not knocking them for winning it as they deserve it but look at the last 4 seasons we have literally had jeopardy every game for the run in. Makes what we have done absoluteley incredible and for me wont ever be matched again. Imagine knowing before each game, one slip up and its gon! That is what City had year in year out. An amazing feat to win 4 on the spin and also the treble along the way.

It's not a foregone conclusion. However, Newcastle, Chelsea, Forest and Villa would all love to be in our position and with our remaining fixtures.

In actual fact I prefer others are not fading as will keep us at it. In our hands which is all we would have asked ten games or so ago.
 
Because Chelsea play both Forest and Newcastle and therefore points will be dropped by 1, 2 or 3 of these teams... a total of 6 points will guarantee a top 5 place.... and that's assuming the teams we are competing against win every single other game

Would be interesting if arsenal had forest or villa next week to see what result people wanted
 
I think 4 points is enough for a top 5 place. Too many of the teams around us have to play each other.
 
Next weekend’s fixtures:

Southampton v City
Bournemouth v Villa
Newcastle v Chelsea
Forest v Leicester
Liverpool v Arsenal
 
2 wins does it now. I think 3 or 4 points will be enough though.

There is a scenario that secures it this weekend:
- City beat Southampton (A).
- Newcastle beat Chelsea (H).
- Forest fail to beat Leicester (H).
- Villa fail to beat Bournemouth (A).

It wouldn't be mathematical due to goal difference with Villa (if they draw) but we're nearly 20 goals ahead of them.

Unlikely but possible.

That's the most complex scenario.

The easiest is:
- City beat Southampton.
- Forest Lose.
- Villa fail to win.

Again, still not mathematical but GD all but secures it.
