4pts clinches it as that certainly eliminates Forest on pts, and Villa on GD

Villa will win out as they've got Spurs and United to play so 69pts in the clubhouse in the marker really.

We will be 6th next time we kick a ball in the league as next weekend Chelsea are playing United who are shit, and Villa are playing Spurs who are also shit. However a win against Bournemouth puts us in a strong position.

Yesterdays brain fart does ensure we will need something at Fulham on the final day - the way we've played this season, still throwing in performances like yesterday, there's no reason to have full confidence in this squad. None of us know what team will turn up - either at Wembley next week or in the final 2 league games. We can hold our nose and hope for the best.

Have to admire the courage of posting in such certain terms "we will be 6th next time we kick a ball in the league" just a few pages after the guy who posted "we will be 7th next time we kick a ball in the league" got proven wrong almost immediately.

So we need 4 points which I don’t think we will get so for me we need Villa or Chelsea to drop points somewhere

Yes but you're forgetting that Arsenal have to play Newcastle yet so with them losing today (as it stands), and if they lose that it''s going to be a very nervous final match for them at Southampton, who (you would hope at least) will want to give their fans a good send-off after getting a point against us. If we win one both Chelsea and Forest cannot finish above us, it's one or the other and Arsenal may still need another point to finish above us.

Southampton just wanted the point to avoid joining Derby as the worst premier league side. We gave it to them yesterday and they’re on the beach after that. We need 4 points unless there’s miracles elsewhere.

I think we will manage it but the fact that we are discussing this with just 2 games to go is a reflection of the disappointments of the season so far. The Cup Final will ease things somewhat if we win it but that doesn't get us into the CL. We can only hope that the planned changes that happen over the summer get us back up there where we have become accustomed to.

Dipper fans booing TAA. To quote President Jed Bartlet from "The West Wing": "Is it possible to be astonished and at the same time not surprised?"

Ahh bless ….I should have realised that a thread called ‘Top 5 Race’ with a poll asking everybody to predict the top 5 is not that at all.
You weren’t predicting the top five though, were you? You were stridently predicting where we would definitely be after next weekend’s fixtures. That isn’t the same thing. If you want to start a thread predicting where we’ll be after next weekend feel free to do so.

You were also doing what so many miserable cunts do, which is selfishly getting a kick out of trying to disseminate your misery upon others, because misery loves company. That’s why you posted what you did, when you did.

Doing some math
Unfortunately, we cannot qualify further with only two points from two games.

Why does everybody keep saying "we need this, we need that". We could yet lose both matches and still qualify. Villa and Chelsea would need to win one match and Forest would need to win both, bearing in mind Chelsea and Forest have to play each other.

Yesterday’s draw was unfortunately a terrible result. It is impossible for anyone to be confident that we will win our final two games, and even the cup final, because we are simply not a very good side. We’ve been getting results recently but we have had so much luck.

You’d have to say Newcastle will qualify so that leaves ourselves, Chelsea, Villa, and Forest. Forest dropping points was huge and they have Chelsea on the final day so one of them is guaranteed to drop points. The threat is Villa, they have to play Spurs and United which is the closest thing to a guaranteed 6 points as you could have.

I don’t see us beating Bournemouth so I think our best will be 4 points or 2 in our last games. It’s gonna be tight!!

It’s not impossible to be confident, I find it quite easy and I have been for a few weeks.

Only assuming other results go against us. If we finish with 2 draws, 67 points, Forest can't catch us because of their inferior goal difference while both Villa and Chelsea would need to win both their remaining matches and Newcastle would need a point.

We blew it yesterday, typical City! It will be humiliating if United get into the Champions League and we don’t. They have 39 points, we have 65. Insanity prevails.

Even if we only get 3 points Villa and Chelsea both need to win each of their remaining games. Newcastle could also slip yet, they still need to play Arsenal.

Good luck hoping United or Spurs will get anything next week mate. Both will field the gnomes 5 days before their Cup final - and to be one of the gnomes in their squads is really scraping the barrell
