The Torino - Man City link....

I remember the Blue Print articles and the articles comparing City with other clubs which were typically sides with a more successful and famous neighbour. Ironically one of the comparisons was with Athletico Madrid which like us has risen out of the shadows, become very successful in their own right but hardly a club on the christmas card list these days.

Wasn’t ‘Out of the Shadows, the name of the recurring series in Blueprint?

But where is this famous flag pic? i went to start of thread and saw early mentions of it, but no link or attachment?

Son of the flag owner here

The old flag shown in this topic is my dads and his mates. I've just seen three of them in the picture! I don't know if there was a "link" between the clubs before this but I know a lasting impression has been left since. One of the lads in that picture now actually live in Turin and has gone on to marry an Italian woman. Also, Torino fans have come over in the past since this and many city fans have gone to watch Torino also.

The picture was taken at the Turin derby, why did they go? Well, the footballing reason has already been stated in this topic, the clubs had huge similarities to one another at the time. The main reason? Young lads up for a laugh with a great love of football, on the piss in a foreign country. I've been told so many stories about the many times they went over but the main reason they have loved going to follow Torino is the way in which the fans treated them that very first time. Sorted them a hotel, took them out for a couple of nights and gave them the best experience of a Turin derby possible. I personally think its very refreshing to hear when we're more used to hearing stories of stabbings and beat downs when Brits travel abroad to follow football nowadays. I have took my dads idea and stole it in a way. Me and a group of friends have followed levante since big phill went there on loan. Blue through and through but the weekends I spend in Valencia are some of the best football days I've ever had! I would advise any group of young lads to do it.

Anyway, great flag mate and hope I've shed a little bit of light on one of the reasons the clubs may have a bit of a "link".
