The Tottenham Thread 12/13

Lloris and Dembele are first class signings would improve any squad in the top four. Despite them signing Ade, still think they're short on strikers. They're pretty much buggered if Defoe gets injured. Not really convinced by Willian, you know what these Brazilians coming from poor leagues like Ukraine/Russia are like.

Elano?

Yeah I guess. My point is though they're a bit hit and miss. I mean Jo was a complete and utter travesty of a signing.

Spuds are an average mid table side at best.
They simply labour under the misapprehension that they are a big club, and therefore have ludicrously over-inflated expectations, which is a triumph of misplaced optimism over bitter experience.
They will win nothing again, and proceed to rearrange the deckchairs on the Titanic again, thinking that they have redesigned the wheel.
They did the double once, and have dined out on it ever since.

Dembele and Lloris done.

Fantastic business Mr Levy.

Dembele, that'll be the striker from Fulham, the one who has scored 7 goals in his 73 games for them so far, awesome signing. He makes Emile Heskey look prolific. Look at it this way, Adam Johnson made exactly the same number of appearances for City as Dembele has made for Fulham, 73, in that time Johnson scored 14 times, twice as many goals, from a winger who made most of those appearances as a substitute.

As for Lloris, IF he signs he'll be a good keeper, but as your current keeper blocks shots with a zimmer frame a new keeper was a necessity.

Dembele isn't a striker, though. It's like calling Yaya or Silva a striker.

He might not score that many goals but he is an excellent player.

Dembele is a centre mid you donut. If you're going to bash a player at least find out what position he plays in first.

Lloris isn't a done deal, just looks like a fee has been agreed. He is France's number 1 and captain and only 25, so still plenty of time to improve and develop.

I thought Dembele looked fantastic against UTD. Would like it if Spurs brought in Damiao, Remy, and Afellay. Really unimpressed with Willian - looks like a brazilian Lennon to me. Plenty of skill but no end product.

There's absolutely no way Dembele is a central midfielder, maybe the term "forward" would be a better description than "striker" but nonetheless he's still an attacking player where goals are expected. Ok, how about this then:-

Nasri 47 games 8 goals
Yaya 92 games 19 goals
Silva 102 games 14 goals
Kolarov 65 games 7 goals

All players with better records than Dembele, one of whom is a defender.

Dreadful, especially with that manky chicken on the front of it.

At least it's not a tablecloth, or a tea-towel.
