The Tottenham Thread 12/13

If Levy had signed Moutinho it would have been brilliant for Spurs, but shouldn't he have sussed that that was unlikely weeks ago?

He messed up with Spurs starting the first 2 games with only 1 striker, and they have only 1 point when really their play deserved 4 at least, and he has messed up again.

If Marwood had done that he'd have been slaughtered and yet levy is held up to be the ideal transfer negotiator. Or is he really clever and knew he had no chance with Moutinho anyway and has deflected the flak that he'd get for not replacing Modric?

Either way better than Chelsea who we're told were prepared to let Sturridge leave on a permanent transfer leaving them with just one forward - the injury prone Torres - after having spent £80m this Summer on players behind him.

Spurs are like QPR light. Okey Kokey team - one goes in, one goes out, then shake it all about.
By the time it's all settled down, it'll be Christmas and AVB's time might be almost up - again - then it'll get shuffled again in January, with the world's greatest negotiator doing his bit and taking the club nowhere.
They finished 4th last season. With Modric and VDV gone, and the Adebayor time bomb now well and truly there's, they haven't improved on last season, no matter how they try to dress it up and I can't see them going up a notch.

They are better than Arsenal though. Do they have to go up a notch?

Got some exceptional players. I just don't like the way Levy operates like he is on a market stall. If you have £25m to invest then it's risky leaving it to the last moment just to save £3-4M and look good.

Hair of half-wit, WTF are they constantly and dementedly hyped by the stupid pundits. When did they win their last trophy The Arse get bollocked daily (hourly in fact) for not winning silverware for seven successive seasons and yet the media whores masturbate about Spurs. They have won only 4 of their last 17 prem matches and yet the media whores masturbate about Spurs. They have had a decidedly under-whelming transfer window, and yet the media whores masturbate about Spurs. There will be wall to wall, synchronised wank festivals from now until Xmas and then when the wheels fall off again in the second half of the season, the orgasmic media fornicators will suddenly pretend that there is no such thing as Tottenham Hotspurs.

OMFG, do one already about Spurs.

Have to agree that Spuds are, without doubt, the most overrated and overhyped club in the Premiership.
Their utterly deluded fans still think they matter.
They don't,and haven't since Jimmy Greaves.
I do get hard, however, when you talk dirty like that Pam.
Please post again,as I have nearly arrived.

I wouldn't underestimate that midfield with Dembele, Dempsey, and Bale.

But that defense looks like a Russian made oil tanker.

The media are working very hard never to mention this. Although ome of their fans aren't taking the bait this time round.

Why would they criticise their beloved club?

Spurs are looking like a decent side -

Lloris
Walker-Gallas-Vertonghen-Ekotto
Parker
Dempsey-Sigurðsson-Dembele-Bale
Adebayor

You're right. I keep forgetting about that.

Given that they're not in the Champions League, I thought they had a very good window, although think they'll have to spend in January as well if they want to make top four this year.

Dembele is a fantastic player and Dempsey raises our profile in the United States and he did score plenty of goals last year.

Sigurdsson's a class player in my opinion and Lloris is awesome on Fifa but haven't seen much of him apart from youtube videos.

Good window in the end, Would have been fantastic with Moutinho but we did clear some of the deadwood out.

You have to counter balance this by considering who you lost in the window. I don't think this summer's business is a net improvement on last year, I really don't. Doesn't call for this orgy of giddiness. Certain elements of the media are blind to it all. It's making some of your fans delusional. Every year the same.

Still ignoring that decidedly iffy defence then? Fair enough; your decision.

I know we lost Modric but It was always going to happen, Van Der Vaart is a fantastic player but to get the best out of him you need to build the team around him and he often gets injured and his fitness levels are not very good.

I think Dembele can kind of replace Modric, Him and Sandro can have a very effective central midfield partnership.

Considering the money you got for Modric and Van Der Vaart, Levy was always going to approve a few new players, if only to appease the fans. But like it or lump it, there is nothing spectacular about your incomings and you needed to do more with the defence. For this reason, I don't understand the pundit's rapture. If you'd managed to get Moutinho, I might think differently.

BTW, what scuppered the Moutinho transfer? It was initially said to be a "done deal" until late last night.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think your squad is weaker at the end of this window but equally, I don't think you'e all that much stronger. And why are Norwich City currently ripping your lot a new one?

Now that I've said that, you''ll nick a goal or four and the orgy of self-congratulation will resume.

still shaking my head at the spurs/levy love in last night how in the hell do you sell your 2 best midfielders not replace them but get plaudits for a brilliant window wtf!
