The Tottenham Thread 13/14 (continued)

I don't really think anyone expected us to win against a free scoring Liverpool team, but I expected more than that dross. It was pretty gutless and unimaginative. Some of the players didn't even look that interested at all.

The past 4-5 seasons we've been laughing at Liverpool now we are exactly where they were for a few seasons. The last 2-3 times going to Anfield we actually bossed the games as well. Fast forward a year or two it's a completely different scenario

Levy haggling over a few million here and there for Moutinho was a huge mistake. It's exactly who AVB wanted in. It could have been someone to boss the midfield with Sandro and feed the likes of Eriksen. We've not been close to bossing a midfield since we lost the deep play making midfield role

I don't really understand what goes through Levy's mind. He scrapped all the Director Of Football bollocks after Arnesen and Commoli then gets in Baldini when AVB had his targets. There were reports our 'scouts' had the chance with Suarez (Sherwood and Ferdinand see countless times and now managing us) and Lewandowski, but blew it.

Apart from Eriksen and Adebayor I haven't really seen much spark at all this season. Thinking back to the Jol days our strikeforce was better (Berbs, Keane, Defoe, Mido etc) , our full backs of charlie/stalteri & Lee/BAE were light years ahead of the likes of Rose, Walker and Naughton. Even a inferior midfield of the likes of Mendes, Teemu, Jenas etc showed more guts.

Don't get me started on Lennon, what a load of wank.

Levy will be wanking himself silly over our 5 year netspend but it's all margins at the end of the day, and by missing out on a few points or a point every season because he's being a tight shit has cost us another 5 years. Even if we recoup 50m on flops or deadwood I can't see Baldini making a good decision.

I'd be tempted to keep Lamela to see what he can do, give Soldado one more season to see if he kicks into gear and sell him to Spain if he fails. I love Eriksen as he always thinks forwards which is a great trait to have, I love his little through balls and passing. Chadli can be handy I guess and Chirices is another defender like Verts (face like a slapped arse) who is brilliant on the ball but prone to a mistake. Paulinho could become good but goes missing more than Malaysian Airlines

At least it will be a fantastic race for the title. Liverpool V City will be a great tie to watch

I am beginning to feel sympathy for Spurs fans. I'd rather watch my team play in the Championship than watch such gutless performances.

Agree with most of you say Crouchinho. Really does feel like so much progress has been undone this year. While 5th/6th is realistically where we "should" be finishing, I do think there have been opportunities over the last few years to compete at a higher level. I've often defended Levy but my patience has pretty much run out with him now. He's made some very bad decisions and, worse, seems to keep repeating mistakes.

Find it hard to blame Sherwood - I don't want him managing my club but he was hardly likely to turn the opportunity down. He's just not up to it, despite one or two positive traits which I'm a fan of.

All of the clubs above us are going to be stronger next year I expect, and some clubs below us too possibly. We are probably going to have a huge clear out and start again, which is ridiculous when we had such a platform to potentially build from.

There is almost a degree of comfort in thinking we may go back to mediocrity without absolutely no expectations but I can't ever remember feeling quite so frustrated with the club.

Announcement at 8:30pm, big bust up in the dressing room apparently. Has Sherwood walked? Who knows
Shambles, but I agree with what you said in your post for the most part.

Said it before, but your saving grace is you can recoup most of the money. A new manager will be able to sell any (if he chooses) of Dembele, Soldado, Lennon, Townsend, Paulinho, Capoue, Vertonghan, Lloris, Chadle, Erikson, Lamela, Sigurdson and Sandro for a good profit. The start of next season will be difficult, but he can raise funds and build a team with some cohesion and that he wants.

Wouldn't surprise me if Sherwood has chinned someone

Sadly, me neither. Doesn't seem very good at keeping his emotions his check,

I agree but I do like that about him. Too many managers toe the line to the point where the game is too nice. Fair play to Sherwood for saying things how they are and wearing his heart on his sleeve.

His pride has probably lead to him taking the Spurs job far too early. He could be a decent manager in time, just not with Spurs IMO

To a certain extent I agree; is one of his positive traits I was referring to earlier. However there has to be some degree of professionalism too. And, yes, there well be a decent manager in there somewhere - but this was definitely too big of a challenge for him in his first position.
