The Tottenham Thread 13/14 (continued)

Well done lads. Was dreading the game really with the form you're in. Best out the way now then the end of the season. Agree with Sherwood the decisions wouldn't have made any difference but it may have made it more exciting for us perhaps!

What's the latest on Aguero? Hopefully will be fit against Chelsea, can't wait for that match!

Sounds and looks like a Grade 1 hamstring - they'll scan it tomorrow for a more accurate assessment of the problem. These things happen when you've been out for a while got to be really careful not to push it too much when you get back in. MP bit reticent about playing him for 90 mins against Watford in the Cup now despite his hat-trick!
That'll be a 3-4 weeker I would imagine although Zabba tweaked his against Leicester and was back playing 9 days later - These Argies are hard bastards!

Fair one. I'm hoping we play equally well at the Emirates in due course.
We're a bit non-plussed at the faux affront regarding the reffing decisions.
No question it was offside and Sherwood agreed - EA stood in an offside position and played at the ball - so he was active and offside (TS agreed he connected) which made Dawson offside - nothing to argue about really. Dawson wasn't offside originally but was after EA touched it.
The rules haven't changed about challenges from behind particularly in relation to last man attempts from behind in the penalty area. Yes he played the ball but he clearly plays Dzeko first with his trailing left leg - ED makes the most of it - don't they all and goes down, but he's entitled to. Yes it's unfair Spurs get punished twice for the same offence but thats the law. It was a foul - It was a penalty and as last man preventing a goalscoring chance he's got to go.

It would certainly made it more interesting yes but the sending off was by the book. Maybe spurs fans feel hard done by but the tackle ticked more than one trait, ... Last man, trailing leg, from behind, goal scoring opportunity were the apparent ones. Then to nitpick, ...slight pull, not clearing the ball away, scissor slide which from the front do get players sent off, as with Kompany in one derby.

Edin perhaps made the most of it but it was a penalty in spite of this. But the red card was a bit harsh. A penalty and yellow would suffice.

They were a tad physical though but it would be a boring league if teams don't throw their weight around and spurs won't be the last team to have a go at us. Gives assurance that we can grind out results against such tactics.

Tim Sherwood is a decent manager and it would be for the cause if spurs can get back to its winning ways and claim 4th-6th.

I don't know if EA touched the ball but I'll take your word for it! (watched on a grainy stream) I have it on PVR but doubt I'll watch it now.

When we had Redknapp it seemed we got favourable decisions go our way, I think that was the great thing about being in the top 4 even if it was only a couple of times.

I think City now have that rub of the green too, even though you have been there a while. It made me laugh on redcafe and some Arsenal article people complaining about it when they've had the rub of the green for years

What do you want management wise in the summer ?

Get on the "One night stand" thread in the cellar and you will see him in a whole new light.

You had couple o very soft penalties on the beginning of the season that won you games, you'd be out of 4th spot race already without them.

It's true though that more decisions go your way when you're on top or near it. Though Mariner was **** and gave you all small ones, the big, tricky ones went to City and though both of them were hard to call and unlucky for you, in my eyes both were right decisions. And it's not the first time this season, being on top started to pay dividends for City with refereeing decisions recently. Few big calls went on blue side in some of the big matches recently.

I'd honestly trade a few of those decisions for some more protection from referees. We lost Nasri to outright thuggery at St James's Park and were lucky not to lose Silva the same way last night. How we ended up with four bookings to Tottenham's one I have absolutely no idea.
