I think Lamela, Chiriches, and possibly Eriksen could be announced tomorrow. Chiriches gives us quality cover as a CB and as a RB, so I think in defense we are sorted in every area except at LB. I think with a top quality left back and left forward we could complete our squad and challenge for the title. Maybe sell Ekotto and Sigurdsson as there wouldn't be space for them.

GK: Lloris, Friedel.
Def: Walker, Chiriches, Kaboul, Dawson, Vertonghen, Rose, NEW LB.
Mid: Sandro, Capoue, Paulinho, Dembele, Eriksen, Holtby.
Atk: Lamela, Townsend, Soldado, Defoe, Chadli, Lennon, NEW LF.

So that would be a 22 player squad in which every player is quality imo. By far the best and most balanced Tottenham squad I have ever seen. Unlike last season where we had multiple holes quality wise (regularly playing in the first team - Parker, Huddlestone, Dempsey to name 3), this season it looks like we will have quality backups in every position. And this season we have the players to play the formation that best suits AVB's tactics which is 4-3-3.

I definitely think you have done well in the transfer window and built up a nice squad, but not sure about challenging for the title.
Firstly, you're assuming all the players will live up to expectation. With so many is that likely? Surely at least one will turn out to be a disappointment.
Secondly, Are they all going to be up to speed quickly enough? I would have thought some would need more or less the full season to adapt.
Thirdly, the new guys haven't even had a pre-season to get to know each other. How long will it take to get them to gel?
Fourthly, with so many newbies they will have to all learn to play together and at the same time fit into AVB's system. If anything this could disrupt the players already there.
Fifthly, speaking of the players already there, the likes of Ade could cause trouble (he's got form you know!).

All in all, a challenge this season is asking a lot. Having said that, I think there's every chance you will take a CL place this year and Arsenal will miss out (fingers crossed).

Its a pity Spurs didn't splash some real cash last summer, you could have had some players of this calibre in place already. Not only that, but it was the last year when Arsenal would still definitely be cash-strapped. It was taking a risk leaving it till this year when Arsenal could spend (and maybe still will) and looking back to last season and how close you ran Arsenal there's every reason to think you could have bettered them with a couple of good players. Strange you didn't go for it. But not as strange as Arsenal coming so close to losing out on the CL cash cow and still not reinforcing this summer (or maybe leaving it to the last minute).

I have stats on most clubs, City obviously included.

They form the basis for the football statistics web site which I've been running for several years now.

Do you have one on how you are going to fund your new ground? Is that going to be Sugar Daddy funded you have opposed at City?

I understand that a naming rights deal has just been agreed.

you get a lot of stick on here and a few blues seem to remember he only ever posts on the Spurs thread.

I am pleased for Spurs that they have not wasted all the Bale dosh.
Not all the players you are now linked with will sign and not all of them will be a roaring success but the club have backed the management team to the hilt and it is no mean feat to appease your fans at the same time as selling arguably last seasons 3 rd best player on the planet .
Appeased you are though and you are quite rightly buzzing.

We have had that feeling for 5 years this coming Sunday and it is fookin great.

You are a well run club and top 3 should be your target this year.

Winning it is a whole different ball game and you are not quite ready for that just yet.

Enjoy the moment , it's why we all follow our clubs fanatically.

By the way did you know AVB's grandma was born in the same Cheshire village as I was ??
