Blanc could be another Jacques Santini if they are not careful. He would cost little or no compensation as his contract will run out at the end of this tournament though.

On the radio, AVB will the next Manager.

He could do well there. Less Chairman interference and not too much rebuilding needed.

The interference could come from elsewhere though, they are looking into bringing back the dreaded Director of Football system! Has it ever been a complete success at an English club?

And look who could be on his way back...

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/9335119/Damien-Comolli-linked-with-surprise-return-to-Tottenham-Hotspur.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... tspur.html</a>

Mind you, he did get them some very good players last time like Bale, Modric, and Berbatov, but also a number of duds like Hutton, Dos Santos, and Bentley... so a mixed bag.

Could very well be a good appointment. He has a point to prove to the Chavs and to English football generally andwarped scale the sort of player power that exists at Stamford Bridge doesn't exist at WHL. Too many ancient old divas at Chavski, manipulating a semi-detached owner who has more dosh than sense. Too many football pensioners hanging on for dear life and scape-goating a succession of managers the minute things look as if they are going wrong.Spuds won't give him the same problem. Nobody would. I didn't necessarily like the bloke when he was here last but he was given a raw deal by Chavski. He was told by the Russians to sweep out the old guard but when push came to shove, the club didn't back him.

He defo deserves a proper chance this time round and his return would produce yet another soap opera rivalry between two premiership clubs. This is exactly why the English PL is the best in the world.

Excited about the appointment of Villas Boas, He did well at Porto when the players listened to him.

Can see him operating a fluid 4-3-3 with Bale playing the Hulk role for Porto.

AVB hasn't been officially unveiled as manager yet has he? Not seen it anywhere (but, then again, not looked!) so went on Spurs official site and no mention in the news section that I could see. Ar ethe media still saying he is, or have they cooled on the idea?

AVB will be a flop at spuds ...just like at chelsea...

I look forward to his crouching tiger hidden dragon dance when Adebye bye misses a sitter.

I don't know what to make of him. He did brilliantly at Porto but he did have some excellent players. While at Chelsea he did relatively poorly. Though to be fair, at Chelsea he had to deal with the internal politics.

I would think that a number of Spurs players will find his style of management a bit of a culture shock compared to Redknapp.

Will be an interesting summer at Spurs. He will certainly need more technical players to play in the style of Porto, so I can see a few changes in the playing staff.

I love how all the Spurs fans are scrabbling to justify this and make out it is in some way different to us and Chelsea! Apparently we have people in charge who don't know what they are doing and they will do just as well on half the money. Also, apparently because they are close to the top four that means it is OK for someone to pump money in, whereas because we were a few places lower it wasn't (though I don't see them mentioning Chelsea in that bit).
