The TV Quiz Show Thread

The one I found the worst was on the afternoon radio show on BBC Radio Manchester with Phil Trow. He gives the first 3 letters of a word and you have to guess the word from the clues. The old dear who was playing was given her 3 letters that start off the word S P O. Clue was could be made of wood, metal or plastic. Used for stirring or eating with. Unfortunately she had to concede defeat and admit she didn't know the answer.

It's obviously spork, the silly old bat.

Sounds like that quiz was designed purely for morons

Well I have enjoyed getting it tight for my numerous errors in composing that post. It was done in a hurry. Made me laugh out loud a few times. It reminded me of the need to take more care when you’re calling some **** out, as everything will rightly be used against you.

Still, all that aside, going on a show when you are clearly thick, should never be considered.

Glad I wrote it the way I did though, for the laughs alone. Cunts :)

I went on 15-1 first time round and bombed out first round. I could be forgiven for not knowing the answer to a question about architecture but no excuse for the brainfart when asked about what some celebrations in China were commemorting sying the tianeman square massacre. It was the studio lights made me say it.

I just had my dinner ruined by watching an episode of The Chase, were a young woman, thick as the sauce in the neck of a bottle, got 0 money and not one question right.

Fair play to stupid people and I would never have a go at them. Let’s face it, that would be a full time job on this site, :) but for fuck sake, at least they don’t apply to show the world how cretinous they are by going on TV where people can recognise them.

I know this is a form of OCD/Tourette’s on my part, but Jesus H Christ, it really gets on my wick

She didn’t know who Tommy Cooper was. Never heard of Buzz Aldrin, and many many more things, only a **** living in a cave for his whole life wouldn’t know. And even then he would probably guess one right.

Am I alone in wanting these people dead, or do you have sympathy for the Cunts who volunteer to go on these shows, without a brain cell operating at even half capacity?

I hate them all.

You say she was young, so why would she know tommy cooper and maybe space travel isn't her gig so no need to learn about the second man in the moon.

I know who they are because I am a middle aged ****, ask me a question about wendy tuck or lethal bizzle and I wouldn't have a clue.

What you are doing is showing your age you are not your inteligence.

Secondly every **** sits at home to the chase answering question going "I could win this" well if you don't then bother to apply, being so clever are you not also a thicko for passing up your chance to win the money?

Lastly no level of intelegence is measured by knowing an answer on the chase, however get a question right on the first round of only connect and I will bow to your superior intelect.

My mate won £10,000 on the Chase. There was luckily some pretty clever guy who got them through the final chase on there to win and contributed most of the money.

He said that the nerves really do make it a lot lot harder. He had a question about a zombie film that he’d seen about a million times and he got the film completely mixed up with something else. He knew the answer, knew every character’s name and knew the Director but just momentarily lost his head. He said if you’d have asked him in his sleep he’d have got it normally.

Surely he wouldn't respond in his sleep and you'd have to wake him up first. Plus I don't think they allow beds in the studio.

When you were young didn’t you know anything about the world and it’s major events? I know stuff about the black death, the English civil war, the history of my country, I wasn’t there, but I was brought up to be interested in where we came from. To try and understand what was going on. It seems now that this is a thing of the past and as long as you know trivia about who you like us acceptable.

They say youth will be our saviour. Well I hope so too, but if they aren’t interested in the world what chance is there of that happening?

I don’t think ignorance is a thing to be celebrated. No matter what age you are. Dumbing down helps keep us down. I despair how people don’t care to know what’s going on. Or what went on to lead us to where we are. I think that’s dangerous.

But again, the point was not being stupid or ignorant, it was going on a show that exposes that. That I cannot understand. If the quiz was about pop culture and the Karadashians type thing, she may well have won it. But, the show isn’t about that. I get the same feeling when adults tell you with pride they never read books. As if that’s something to be proud of. They don’t care about politics etc. These people are easily manipulated and we are seeing the fruits of that ignorance and manipulation all over the world today. I don’t think it’s healthy.
