The Eagle was an emblem of imperial Rome. It was used particularly as an emblem on each Roman Legions standard. The standard was carried at the front of a Legion. To lose a standard was extremely grave, and the Roman military went to great lengths both to protect a standard and to recover it if it were lost; after the annihilation of three legions in Germanicus the Romans spent decades retaliating for the defeat while also attempting to recover the three lost eagles.Well i will thank you!
I knew Lazio's badge had a big bird on it but wasn't sure what it was.
And I guessed the northwest edge of the Empire would have been Britain but i was thinking a fort rather than a wall so was thinking of some kind of fort in Chester or York......
Dont get me started on Hadrians Wall. I could bore for Britain.
