The UEFA Cup is Hughes' only hope

I'm certainly not 100% convinced by MH,but fail to see what we could've done differently today against one of the best teams in Europe.
If we'd gone for broke,we'd have got panned 3 or 4 on the break....(like last season.)
If we'd have sat back and defended on the edge of the 18 yard line....we'd have conceded eventually.

We didn't have the players today to hold up the ball and break for ninety minutes...and the fact is we're not strong enough yet to beat the top three without a full team.

Sad,uncomfortable-but true.

Didn't someone on here who went to the Q&A session say that city said the owners aren't looking to replace hughes and want to give him time?

Only problem i have with Hughes, is will big names be put off and think who's mark hughes?, that's what i'm worried about, Kaka was thinking this, if Jose becomes available then take him straight away, even if we win the UEFA Cup and Jose wants to come unfortunetely i would still want Hughes to go, i just think under Jose we will be more successful, and he has more than a plan A which hughes does't have.

The thing I find interesting about the Hughes out camp is, they never mention who they want to fill his boots..

Mourinho - Fat chance he'd come to us.
Scolari - Couldn't cut the mustard at Chelsea, apparently.
Wenger - Leave a team he's been building for years to come to us? Hmm.
Sven - Yeah, ok.

Hughes is building a decent team here, and as soon as he gets the backing of all the players, and they all work for each other, like against Villa, we will be as good as anyone in this league.

That's easy, anyone who never had connections at the swamp and can win every game 4-0 from day one. Any ideas?

If we don't win the UEFA cup, Hughes is out absolutely no question. If we win it, he'll have a chance of keeping his job but it's by no means guaranteed.

I don't know whether I want him out so that performances like that one today aren't repeated, or in so we get the continuity and stability we crave.

You are an absolute Nob!

Oh & I have to live in Yorkshire, originally from Tyldesley. Your remark is not an argument for deabate! T**t!

Today's match was another lesson & one that gives MH's team experience. That's somehting you haven't got......experience that is.

or would you like to meet me outside turnstile B2 next match mate!

Mark Hughes is well known for his time at Rags,Barca and Bayern.

Get a grip everyone, we lost to a team that are strong contenders for the champions league and the premirer league, that had a fully fit squad worthy of beating anyone. We had a team with key players missing, and even the ones we had weren't 100% fit. Whats more it was at stamford bridge, they always fancied there chances against us, mainly because of our poor away record. So under the circumstances, i thought we did well today and were lucky not to concede even more goals.

Hughes has brought to together a descent team in just 6 mounths, and i don't think one member of the team has put a foot wrong, yes we've had bad results but who hasn't. So come on, get behind the team AND the manager.
